Didn't see a thread for this so what the heck I'd create one. The first bb prequel book dropped today. The title is a play on the bond film titles and has a very James bond feel to it.

Its a strange book for sure and don't know what to make of it.Barber usually nails the movie titles but this one just felt weird.

Its all I can say. Arts a bit men and slapdash in places but its okay

I think it's probably one of those minis that will read better as a trade, since the intent is clearly that the four issues together form a single Bond movie, but I enjoyed this. Not quite as bouncy and effervescent as the Action Man mini which it's a spiritual successor to, but I think that's probably by design, since this is more of a played-straight spy story rather than a full-on action comedy.

The Bond theme montage page had me cracking up.

Glad to see the return of movie prequels. I downloaded it last night from IDW.

It's alright as movie prequels go, tho I do wonder if this is a prequel to the '07 movie, how is Bee able to talk?

What's the problem with Mr. Griffith? Could we have the vanilla RID quality back?

So, obvious question before I purchase it.

Can someone upload pics of all four robots in both forms?

I don't believe it was ever stated how Bee lost his voice in the movies themselves, just tie-in material that said Megatron caused it. I expect the Bee movie will establish its own version of what happened that allows him to speak here.

    Here you go!

Wildrider and Diabla seem to share the same design. Diabla also has an explicitly mentioned backstory of being a Decepticon spy in the Autobot ranks, so I'm guessing that she is our mysterious red Charger.

And overall, it's a pretty fun comic! Completely over the top but that gives it some charm.

So stupid it felt like Bay trying to do a version of a Bond film. Not even kidding.

Pencils are bad, coloring is bad, pacing is terrible, almost everything is a dad-joke-tongue-in-cheek gag, and there's no setup or reason to care about anything happening on the page.

It took two tries to get through it. Save your money if you were on the fence and read the wiki.

I read it, I actually enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it was the most amazing Transformers story ever told, but it was fun and took a slightly different approach than most Transformers fiction, which I applaud. Definitely a very weird concept for a prequel to a movie that takes place in the 80s. I'm curious if there's a reason for this particular story, of it's it's just the authors having some fun.

    Thank you.

So, I like Runabout and Diabla. Though I'm not putting money on either living; both are throwaways

at least if the cons die, they seem like during the story they may have so actual personalities. hell just diabla already has more personality/character than most movie cons put together

Yeah, but I still think the spy should've been Action Man.

Doubtful. Griffith clarified that he designed Diabla himself.

There is a reason there aren't even threads for the other issues. This series should have the subtitle "Barber thinks he can write Roger Moore era James Bond comics, but he can't"
