So I was thinking today, Megatron is going to come back because Hasbro wants merchandise for him.

But Megatron had his head torn out and was finally killed for good in DOTM. Reviving him AGAIN would be stupid, so I came up with a solution.

Have another powerful Decepticon arrive on Earth to take up the mantle of Decepticon Leader, and then take the name of Megatron as a tribute to the former leader.

Hasbro gets their Megatron, and we don't get another zombie Transformer.

They'll probably still make a Megatron toy, regardless of whether or not he's in the film. I'd honestly just like to see a different big bad this time around.

It's a nice idea, but I'm with lildevilchick; I'd like to see a new villain this time around. Megatron was a pretty cool guy, but there's other baddies out there just waiting to form an evil plot, invade Earth, cause mayhem and then get their shit wrecked by Optimus :D

It came from Spike, but now its just a widespread term thanks to TV Tropes.

And yeah, if they were going to make a new Megatron, you might as well just do Galvatron. But iirc, Megatron after ROTF is technically Galvatron; He was going to be called Galvatron until they decided it might confuse people who weren't previous fans.

If they do bring Megatron back, it'll be as Galvatron.

That's only acceptable if the new Megatron was virtually identical to Beast Wars Megatron (although an alt. mode change would be acceptable, like making the giant T-rex head into a giant claw mechanism or something) and voiced by David Kaye. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Other than that, let another Decepticon take the reigns of leadership. Hell, make TARN from MTMTE the new leader, he's such a sadistic bastard whose own face is more like the Decepticon symbol than Soundwave's and he turns into a tank. Outside of height, which if altered would be just fine, he'd be freaking awesome if done right.

Might be too samish. ROTF and DOTM Megatron has the Decepticon logo as their face.

That's a mask Tarn wears, not his face.

Nah but it was so stupid how Megatron was The Fallen's and Sentinel's bitch. We could've gotten a better villian in Megatron.

Hasbro is always making movie toys of characters who aren't in the movies so if Hasbro just has to make a new Megatron toy they can do it without forcing the movie production team to revive Megatron yet again. If they bring him back to life they really need to change his name to Kenny.

Besides Megatron just seemed to get weaker and weaker each film so instead of a really weak Megatron maybe they could have the new main bad guy actually be someone one tough enough that Prime can't just easily kill the guy.

I'm not really certain if I want them to do that. That would pretty much be making a new Beast Wars Megatron. Sentinel Prime showed that Bay and co. are capable of doing good main villains. However Sentinel was primarily a warrior. I'm not certain the bay would be able to handle a thinker. And it would be incredibly disappointing if Megatron II was anything else.

I think they could if they tried but Bay's capabilities are limited to what he wants to do. I get the feeling that Bay could make great films if he wanted to but chooses not to. In terms of villains, TF1 showed that he can do great and DOTM showed that he can give them a great leader. However he only really cares about the heroes and how badass they look so me makes them slaughter hundreds of dumb, incapable villains with little effort.

I'm kind of expecting that Bay will just remake the '86 film in the movieverse, judging by the statements I've read. In which case, it'll probably be Galvatron.

The best option to me is a new 'Con to take the role.
If Galvatron was put in it would either be the same thing as ROTF but with a new name, or a rip-off of the '86 movie. Any other options are highly unoriginal.

I'm pretty sure the idea of namesakes is beyond the narrative finesse of the Bay films.
