I remember reading here that Michael Bay was really pissed off when he saw that the titlers named Brawl "Devastator" in the first movie.

Now that there is a 'real' Devastator, I'm sure the fans of the first movie will cite that and bring it up/complain.

I wonder if Bay got angry at anyone over this first movie error. Did anyone get fired or yelled at?

I believe... Michael Bay actually wanted him to be known as 'Devastator"... never as Brawl. However I guess there was some sort of communication mix-up, and it ended up being Brawl. Now that RotF has come to town, I guess Michael used this chance to use the name once again.

And then all the good little boys and girls will sit in their movie theater seats, as Megatron raises his fist in the air and shouts
    "CONSTRUCTICONS, FORM BRAWL!"
And their collective rage will destroy the planet.

It matters very little, since Transformers in Bay's universe seem to be able to "trans-scan" into whatever they want.
For that matter, Devastator in the first movie could be a part of Devy in the second movie.

Anyway, I'm sure M.Bay went on a three day rager and fired everyone in his path of fury.

no, it was the other way around.

devastator was just a name from an early draft that slipped into the film by accident, whch he was very annoyed about, and got it changed back to brawl for the dvd.

Another perspective from within the Transformers verse:

My name is Christian. It's an uncommon name, but there are other people out in the named Christian too.

Maybe the name "Devastator," is more common throughout the Decepticons. Afterall, there are a lot of Transformers in the galaxy. It would seem unlikely that every one of them had unique names.

    *Nerd explanation over.

*I have the DVD and Blu Ray of Transformers and they both use the name Devastator in the subtitles.

Oh no you didn't! No one bot would ever defy the mightiest of all Transformers. Well, maybe you're right. It's not cool, but there have been shit loads of Devastators through the years. Maybe that's why he's in the 2nd one. He/they are pissed off that "Brawl" took his name and he's come to Earth to kick some tank ass, but he's already destroyed, so he decides he'll have to wreak havok all over them blasted Autobots. I was actually thankful that in Energon, he was called Constructicon Maximus instead of yet again cheapening the name of DEVASTATOR!!!

I just remember sooo many flame wars started over Brawlastators real name. And people were getting so adamant that we were never going to see an actual Devastator because Bay already used the name. I'm glad that's been settled. =D

There must be a Devastator in every BayFormers movie. And he must die each time. Like Michael Bay's own version of South Park's Kenny. Or that women in the Scary Movie films (until that one where she didn't die).

This didn't happen, to my knowledge. I don't believe we've ever had anyone report they had a "corrected" DVD.

In fact, there was some discussion when the DVD came out of the missed opportunity to make the correction.
