I'm confused as to why there are all these extra bits. I also think it's kinda silly that the plastic box that the smaller vehicles go into is a P-Bandai release, but gotta make that money somehow.
This gets revealed after I back to back assembled the moderoid revolger and The SMP Super Fire Dagwon did the same thing. It was to display it in toy accurate or anime accurate forms.
The bits are just for recreating specific scenes or alternating between a more toy accurate vs screen accurate look. Likewise the carrier is literally just that, a cargo box that doesn't do anything for the other modes. Kaiser already has the jet as a functional alt mode (which if I had to guess was the more popular alt mode based on my sample size of 6 year old me) so the carrier made sense to leave off to keep costs down. Just think of how many more fans would've jump on v3 MP Optimus if it wasn't over loaded with $200 worth of extras. As for P-Bandai, this is probably one of the few proper uses of it as far as model kit sales go. P-Bandai is a notorious shit show for Gundam fans for shamelessly locking so many popular suits behind it. P-Bandai is suppose to be for less popular characters or addons (like a Kaiser Carrier) that might be risky for a main line release. What P-Bandai isn't for is locking 4/6 of the iconic Endless Waltz MGs or half of the Unicorn variants away as limited run items knowing they'll sell out instantly every time a new run is announced. In Transformers terms, that would be the same as putting 4/5 of the 07 Autobots or half of all Bumblebee variants behind HasLab.
I feel like lots of modern Mecha kits and collectibles have been doing that lately to get the anime accuracy.
So long as the articulation holds up, I'm all for it. I've always liked having a larger scale bot for shelf presence with a smaller, more stable scale for dynamic posing. Normally this means an MG in a generic "ready to sortie" with an RG doing something dynamic or iconic. So far, I'm feeling The Gattai Gaine and Kaiser doing the standing side by side pose with a SMP Great Might Gaine in that Great Dorinken finisher pose between the two.
Weird question, but does anyone know if the "reissue" of the Moderoid Gambaruger changes anything or is it literally just a re-release of the kit?
Honestly i'm surprised they're not providing anime accurate feet, although even this just demonstrates that they should have just made a dedicated Great Might Gaine model kit.
I wondered if I made the right choice today?? I had to make an executive decision about two different versions of God Raijin-Oh to buy: One being a boxed Korean release of the original DX version, and the other the CM Corp God Raijin-Oh set. The DX version of course is the one you can play with the most. The stickers were messed up but the toy was spotless for being the '92 (or reissue) release. Box is old but again it's 20+ years old. The plastic is white and crisp not yellowed as the owner kept it in a box. The one or CM Corp was available...buuuuut there are glaring issues with the figure such as parts being too heavy, or too light. The plastic fists will crack eventually. However it's much more poseable and also at times high sought after. I only had $350 and one version I could buy. Now this is my wife's account and despite our current marital situation knows I am a serious collector. I messaged her since I use her eBay account to see if the sellers of these figures would bite. The owner of the DX version responded and said he would bring his price to $300 if I bought them and the owner of the CM Corp version never responded. So This one was hard as I have nostalgia for the DX set as I got it in a lot of Brave toys I bought waaay back in 2002. I had some loose figures form Goldran, J-Decker, Might Gaine, as well as all the parts for DX Magna Saurer and 3 main parts of a DX Raijin-oh. The Raijin-Oh always stood out to me. I figured it out but was not sure what series it was from. It wasn't until the 2006 release of CM Corp Raijin-Oh I even knew it was called the Brave Eldoran series. The lot I paid for was about $260 which had 75% of Goldran. From J-Decker I got the ambulance, police car, and a legit Super Build Tiger completed. Might Gaine was parts from various toys which sold buckets. However the two that sold the fastest 2nd being Magna Saurer and the 1st was Raijin-Oh. I remember putting $80 for Raijin-Oh as he had no accessories and Magna Saurer because it was a parts former and I had 0 attachment to it sold for $100. However I could never shake the Raijin-Oh. I found it a few times but man something about the colors it was just a cool looking piece. Well today I made a decision, I still want the CM Corp version, but for now, I went with the DX version. Seller lives a few states away so it should be here hopefully by Friday with my DX King Ohger set with Kabuto bonus. I know CM Corp is more up to date, but the DX version will be fun to mess around with at work.
You really can't go wrong with the original DX toys. If nothing else, most DX toys largely are big chonks of plastic that will be very durable in the long haul.
You absolutely made the right choice. That toy is amazing. I made a small fixture to attach the lion shield to shoulder when fully combined I’d happily mail you for free.
I wonder how successful the king gosaurer was for Bandai since they haven't really followed up with any further kits like them after they released the trio.
Bandai doesn't always release every mecha in a series in SMP before moving on. It's probably a case where they executed all they planned to release.
