Does anyone know the height on the DX King J-der? I'm trying to decide on which I should plan to get between the DX and SMP because even if they do one day make an SOC version it'd be way too big for my shelves.
I dont recall exactly but the old one is pretty big. The Minipla is i think about the size of the old DX Gaogaigar i think? Not my pic.
The minipla stands about 2cm taller than SOC GaoGaiGar, so this helps. No I just need to decide if I want him to be closer (relatively) to the correct scale or better looking for my money.
There's also the Amakuni one coming out in the near future, if you're willing to shell out the cash. I actually have no idea that one compares to the aftermarket price of the DX nowadays.
lol I forgot I posted this the other day. It's been years since I've been around here, just mostly stopped going to message boards. Still around the hobby but with all the recent announcements figured I'd pop in and say hi.
I'm selling my spare DX King J Der if anyone is interested. Good condition toy with really some normal sticker wear and some light chrome wear on the very tip of the nose. Comes with or without box. I'm thinking $170 shipped in the US, but I can work international if needed.
Just got myself a DX Choryujin, partially because I've wanted the DX Symmetrical dockers for years, partially to plan ahead so that I might one day be able to display the two dx sets with their halves swapped next to the SOC Choryujin and Gekiryujin
Well I got ahold of a DX Duke Fire and Gunmax, some parts were missing some I'm kitbashing some Lego and Epoxysculpt. Also there's sun damaged plastic and since I don't have the chemicals to de yellow them I'm just painting over them with GW paint. Pics to come.
The more I learn about Gekiryujin the more it feels like a very late addition to the line up. Alt modes are blatantly crane type trucks with attachments that wouldn't be on that sort of truck, neither has any hand held equipment, what little articulation the combined form would have is almost completely erased by the accessories, and Furyu is at risk of breaking if you leave the pair combined due to a design flaw.
Well they are meant to complement Choryujin. But what design flaw are you talking about that will break them?
Nope, an issue with the head plate which stresses one of the hinges because there isn't enough clearance for the vehicle mode attachment. Learned about it from someone I intend to buy one from.
Yup, I had to modify my Furyu to accommodate that. I still like them, but yeah they're obviously afterthoughts, though the articulation isn't completely erased since the mixing drum can still point forward and the left arm can still bend as long as it's not out at all to the side.
Would you mind posting a pic of the mod you did? I have a fair idea of what I'll have to do but seeing an already completed version would be helpful.
Worth pointing out that in this exhibition they've shown some concept art from Photogeizer: The main character was supposed to be called Tomoya (this one is from last year, but I think I forgot to post it, so I'll leave it here now )
