I had a potentially crazy idea. I haven't even seen the toy but do you guys think a talented person could turn FoC Soundwave into a tripple changing Overlord? I kind of want an Overlord but nothing released appeals to me. For some reason the size of FoC Soundwave, makes me at least question if he could some how work.

    Thoughts?

If making one from the Soundwave figure on its own, there is no way. If making it from FOC Soundwave, Shockwave and/or Starscream, I could see it happening. However, you would have to be a modern day Frenzy_Rumble to plan & build it, let alone work out the transformation.

I doubt it. FOC Soundwave's gimmick gives him very little space to do anything else.

Honestly to I do Overlord Justice he needs to be a new mold and at minimum voyager class but leader would be best.

if i had to guess Hasbro may have decided against making a classic overlord before funpub started planning their overlord due to them seeing it would be very difficult to pull off the figure and keep it reasonably true to its G1 look.

Use Armada Tidal Wave as the base figure

Overlord needs to be 2 leader class figures combined into one. so if you going to really do him justice, use Leader Class Jetfire and Leader Class Brawl.

    ...then from there, be creative.

Or if our really feeling ballzy Use the old school Cobra Nightraven and a G2 Megatron (Tank)

I'm thinking your best bet is to get the PCC Aerialbot comander and the Marine Maketoys missle kit. I think with a bit more modding, there's real potential there for an Overlord stand in.

I think you're jumping from A to C in one fell swoop.

That combination works for doing a Flywheels (it's on my to do list), but not really Overlord.

I'd very much enjoy a new Overlord concept. A tank and jet combo would be as different now as it was then.

I'd even sacrifice the base mode for a badass bot mode. Maybe utilizing the tank and jet to create two different robot modes when combined one for aerial superiority and one for terrain domination.

Yeah I was just thinking out loud. Basically the thing that made me think of using FOC Soundwave was his size I guess. That Silverbolt looks really cool and that is what I would like I think.

I dislike the concept of Overlord being two vehicles. That just doesn't mesh well with me. I prefer a triple changer or one or the other.

I can kind of see it, especially if you're looking at a self-contained triple changer, but I don't own that version of the mold to gauge how it can be done.

My same exact problem. I know the deluxe is super poseable so I was hoping the voyager might be as well. And if it were then maybe a jet mode could be found. His normal vehicle mode with some minor tweaks would probably pass for a tank.

But I think this idea might be a dead end, like people are saying.

I guess since he can eject the data discs from his chest like overlord does his powermasters and the rectangular compartment is similar.

Funpub did that blue tank voyager bludgeon redeco based on overlord's tank module. So if you get a tank barrel for the vehicle mode setup and use blue soundwave as a base. I can at least see a direction for you to go to make something cool and relevant out of the transformation.

Like a cybertronian war dawn/ fall of cybertron overlord where the powermaster process does not exist yet but he's integrating deployer technology and later other upgrades that cast the build for becoming a double powermaster being medically sound for overlord later on, because he took the risks with dangerous transformation experiments earlier in the war.

I don't think it's a dead end. If I had the fig in-hand, I could probably map out a concept. But there would definitely be some modding involved. You're right about the tank portion. As for the jet, I think a Cybertron Soundwave/Universe 2.0 Blaster might work. Same size class, somewhat similar aesthetics. And the good thing about WFC/FOC inspired customs is that the vehicle modes are much more liberal. You've more room to be creative.
