    Bumblebee
    Opening Weekend Range: $15 – 25 million

Our immediate concern is that the Transformers franchise has lost a significant amount of goodwill among general audiences after the last two films displayed sharp declines at the domestic box office. That will be the initial disadvantage for this 1980s-set prequel (along with the opening weekend competition), but early trailers have started to win over fans hoping for a freshtake on the brand thanks to a new and accomplished filmmaker (Kubo and the Two Strings‘ Travis Knight) at the helm with a character-driven tone advertised thus far.

While Bumblebee is likely to finish third among the December 21 weekend’s new releases, family appeal and word of mouth could go a long way toward giving it healthy legs into early 2019.

Wow they’re lowballing it. I’d say $40 million.

Not surprised by their estimated. TLK is just over a year old and still hasn't disappeared from people's mind. It still can effect BB's box office.

I hope they're wrong, but I can see why they say it. It's going to be a lot of slog to dredge through for a win.

I wonder how long people are going to figure out that these are predictions and that it’ll change closer to the movie

Box Office Pro predictions could be hit or miss. I'll go with their highest number, unless Bumblebee turns out to be surprise hit.

Okay now i know this is ridiculous. Yes it is concerning that people may not go see this cause of the last two films. But when everyone saw the trailers hope began. Anyone give me examples of when Box Office Pro said a Movie was gonna underperform but then it ended making money?

Nope, Box Office Pro is usually right about movies that flop. If anything the only times they're wrong is when they say a movie will do well but it ends up doing even better. They're generally good at gauging how cold people are about a film.

True True. Still i do think this movie will make Money given it's budget and seeing as how from test screenings it's gotten good word to mouth. If it was up to me. I say they should maybe move some of the other movies

To everyone saying it's a completely horrible estimate and BOP is stupid or whatever, it's definitely still within the margin of possibility. If you look at the social engagement stats for the film on various platforms, hype and discussion about the movie isn't doing too well now, certainly compared to Aquaman at a similar length of time from its last trailer. I know I'm going to see it, but I'm not counting on a ton of people seeing it. And if it does do crazy good—remember it can't just do good for Paramount to have faith in the franchise again—I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I bet that if it does open low, Paramount and Hasbro will regret not moving its release date

I don't think they had a choice after TLK proved to be a disaster. Paramount needs a solid film performance, Hasbro needs a solid merchandise pusher, and neither was going to happen after the reputation of Transformers as a purely action summer film franchise went down the toilet.
