What makes you say that? How do you know it's not just someone that was in the class? Sure, they discourage you from selling on eBay (or other auctions for that matter), but I can't imagine everyone adheres to that. Personally, I'm amazed at the BIN price. That's only about $465. Seems like a bargain compared to some of the prices regarding this piece.
And I still say....so what? Odds are you won't find one that is unassembled at this stage of the game. We are talking about, what, around 60 or so Sideswipes?
Would seem so. Personally, I don't see the difference. Big whoop if the pieces aren't still attached to a tree. EDIT: The toy in question here clearly hasn't been painted. I would imagine that plays a role in pricing. If anything, I would think that would drive up the price.
I'm still confused as to why G2 Sideswipe didn't get released via the club store or the box set. I don't what to speak to anyone else but when I think G2, I think of Sideswipe/ Green Tank Megatron and weird colored Dinobots. This was the only thing I wanted when the set was announced and it isn't going to happen For me at least
I'll make a bold assumption here: You're telling me that there's no difference in pricing between a MISB Liokaiser & one that's Used? Answer: I think we've all been in the market long enough to know that one answer. I've talked/shared information with some guys whom have these still On-Sprue & got quoted numbers like between USD $600-$1,000.
Yeah, that is a bold assumption. I think the comparison is akin to comparing apples to oranges. Hardly worth comparing. We aren't talking MISB versus used here. They are all "used." Again, I don't see the difference. Sure, a TF with accessories still on a tree/sprue goes for more, but not that much more. That's basically all we are talking about here. I suppose the ones on sprue/tree are more rare, hence the higher price, but still. I think the difference is negligible. This Yahoo!Japan one isn't even painted. That's a rarity by itself. I'm sure a majority of Sideswipes were already painted by now. I think that BIN price is a bargain considering what those on tree/sprue ones are going for.
Because that is exactly what happened. Someone who had their son in the class put two together. They only painted one and sold the other to the Japanese dealer. Considering what he paid for it. So far he is not making much money.... I would suspect it to go much higher. I however do not see this being worth the price it is at right now. I have confidence that they will release this figure. It may not have the same paint apps or the same stickers but we will see it.....
Knowing rikistoybox he has purchased this from china, he uses peoples images from taobao and gets stuff shortly after people in china do.
Okay, well thank you for clearing that up. And yes, I have a feeling we will get the figure eventually. So I don't understand the fuss over this. I guess collectors are worried he won't ever be produced in large quantities. EDIT: I'm not surprised in the least that someone used that BIN option for 40,000 yen. After the crazy prices that were floating around, this actually seemed low (comparatively speaking).
I am not saying this is that particular toy but that did happen. The fact that other people in other areas of the world are coming up with them kinda makes me feel even more sure they will release him.
It could be that very toy. We aren't talking about thousands of regular BotCon toys. I think it's too early to start seeing him on wide release scale. Plus, how many others have we seen in other areas of the world? This is the first I've heard of. Of course I'm not keeping tabs, so I don't have any definite numbers. I have a mild interest in the G2 Sideswipe matter. As a TF fan, I would like to see him get a general, club release. So many people have been disappointed that Sideswipe was not part of the regular BotCon set.
I was just going to say the same thing. All of his BotCon stuff never includes the character cards, so it's obviously not obtained legitimately. It's highly likely that this G2 Sideswipe was illegally obtained from the factory or whatever, like all the test shots and stuff that show up on taobao and eBay.
In regards to the argument in this thread about whether or not "on the sprue" verses "off the sprue" is the same as MISB and loose... I'd pay more for one still on the sprue. Even though it's "loose" ( not in the box ), it's still unplayed with. With this piece, assembly is most of the fun. So yes, "on the sprue" is more valuable. People like me would be the one's bidding on it, and I'm sure I'm not alone in willingness to pay more.
