Oh wow, it's already at over $100 and there are still 6 days left in the auction...I wonder if this'll end up like that Botcon '08 Prime that sold for almost $600.

 

Interesting that all of the pics he's using in his auction have an actoys.net watermark.

Wish there was a closer pic of Rodimus' face so we could see the beard better, but I don't have a problem waiting until I have mine. Only 2 weeks and 3 days left. And I'm sure half a dozen members of these boards will be able to post better pics then as well.

Exactly, you could get two boxed sets for that price. I'd never pay over $140 for a Botcon figure...hopefully this year's exclusives fall below that price line.

 

So, umm, why is it that people are going crazy for this figure, yet the SDCC exclusive Menasor (Black Rodimus) figure was/is undesirable? The paint scheme on that one was nearly identical. Most stores that still carry him can't GIVE him away!

 

i guess evil rod is cooler than random non combiny menasor. plus a better mold from a better designed line.

Exactly. SDCC Menasor used the Titanium Rodimus Prime mold. This one is the Classics mold, which is infinitely superior, IMHO. Especially with the beard.

Hmmm...might be willing to part with mine if I could get $200 for him. Although, it may be inflated now and drop after Botcon. I'll have to test the waters after the convention.

 

His head in the comic looks weird. Looks like Classics Octane.

 

 

Wait, so the name on the box dictates the popularity? People can't think for themselves and call "Menasor" something like "Black Rodimus" or "Mirrorverse Rodimus"? Seriously?? So if Hasbro named the SDCC figure "Nemesis Rodimus" instead of "Menasor," he'd be sold out everywhere right now? I find that hard to believe.

And I would argue that the Rodimus Prime mold was among the best of the Titaniums, and I like it equally as much as Classics Rodimus. Ah well.

 

Hot Rod is one of the weaker toys in classics. I'd much rather stick with Menasor.

 

Oh, I agree that the Ti Roddy was one of the best molds for that series. But for me the Classics mold is just better.

 

erm...not bad as well, but isn't too expensive for US $196.50 ...?

 

This is really the only Botcon toy I'd be interested in. The mold looks great in black.

Wasn't hard to figure out how Rodimus would look after the (sniff) real comic preview, but still, looking good!

That $600 Prime was apparently won by Brian Savage. He contacted the seller and told him to stop selling Botcon items, which he agreed to do. That's him bidding up this Rodimus as well.
