im not sure if this is the right place but im doing a review of my botcon expierence day 1 i came in on wednsday to get my package since i was going on the tour, the line wasn't too bad compared to the others it only took about 40 minutes. After that i wen't home and opened my set the set this is a quick review i might make an in depth review later. i like the set Kup was the best in my opinion the colors are alot better than the light blue it looked like origanaly. Landshark was pretty good nothing special but i liked him. Scourge was econd best the headsculpt was great and overall a great figure. Flak was really cool too i loved the colors. thunderclash was cool but the colors were a little to light. day 2 Next up is the tour it started off bad since the tour guide was late. it was kind of dragged on in the end but i liked it. after that i went to the club store the line was way to long i waited just to get leader prime i would have waited till the next day but i was already in line day 3 friday was great. the animated panel i went to was good but just a little boring. the prrivate sales was cool because it wasn't crowde and it was cool to play with the rotf toys an see the peterbuilt truck. the shout film fest was really entertaining especialy since a guy made a video proposing to his girlfriend if your reading this dude congradgelations. next i went to mstf i left after 2 episodes since i got tired. day 4 Saturday was amazing. the dealer room was cool but way more packed because of general admission. i finnaly got masterpiece megatron. the real highlight of the entire trip was meeting peter cullen if any of you were there i was the kid who asked peter cullen if i could shake his hand and ended up giving him a hug.the panel ended adrubtly because some idiot asked peter cullen if he ever read any optimus prime and megatron slash fiction. the party at paramount was really cool stan bush and vince put on a great show. tyrese gidson made an appearence and met peter cullen. i got a picture with weird al and greg burger while i was there. after hanging out and stuff we got a sneak preview of the movie introduced by michael bay as most of you know. by the way the food was kind of lackluster. day 5 the final day and by far the most boring. it was really crowded with all the kids. but the hasbo panel was cool seeing all the new toys. i played the rotf game for the 2nd time i played it on friday too and won both times. seems like a really good game atleast the multiplayer very fast paced and we can actually jump when we transform. i only got rotf sideways that day. overall botcon was great and im looking forward to next year
Wow... You're complaining about the crowd? I was there and the Botcon crowd does not even hold a candle to the SDCC crowd. Sadly enough I'm going again this year and like you, I'm a local there.
i didnt understand your write up about the idiot and the Peter Cullen thing ending. I wasnt there, so please elaborate on that. Thank you
A few thoughts... Wait for club store on Thursday night was stupid, took 3 or 4 hours because idiots had to take their time and buy 50 boxes of ROTF toys. Speaking of ROTF toys I think all the sellers were high on super-crack. To get into the dealer room you walk right past the club store selling ROTF toys for RRP. All other dealers had a 20 - 100% markup on these exact same figures. Good work being competitive! Q&A sessions in panels are embarrassing, they should consider screening questions or having more security to kick people off (i.e. the kid that kept asking asinine questions and then stopped to answer his phone). Tempting Toys having stacks of old carded figures but then just they just chucked 'em around and flung 'em into boxes all over the place... shit guys take some care with your stock ffs that stuff matters to sealed collectors. There were other stalls taking better care of their junker figures than these guys were with $100 - $300 carded toys. Dealer room got crazy congested when every parent decided to bring their XXXL pram along for the ride. The Sheraton local shuttle service was awesome and really useful. Should have stayed on for the Sunday night and left Monday morning. Paramount Party was awesome wicked sick off the hook despite a late start.
he asked if peter cullen ever read optimus or megatron slash fiction which is when two charecters of the same sex mak out
And then the Guy up there with Peter Cullen said, "That's enough! Get him out of here!" And that was it for that guy. I asked Peter if he had any voice that he did for himself, like while driving or showering. He did, but then I was mezmorized and kept standing at the mic when I should have walked back to my seat. Peter had to say, "You can go now, the light is green." I got to shake his hand after the panel was done, but never got an autograph. I have two ther Primes autographs, but not cullens. I got David Kayes at the convention, and Neil Kaplan sent an autographed picture of himself in a fire truck to my house. all three of them are really nice people.
You didn't see the part were Lanny walked up to ask him to leave, and he gave Lanny "the hand". Shortly after is when one of the Hasbro guys told him to go to the back of the line.
^^ Ha ha, I saw that too! I was like damn, they better do something next year about screening these guys. I had to cover my eyes a couple of times.
Yeah I assume they're going to have to change things for next year. I couldn't take it anymore and had to leave the Cullen panel early so I missed out on the crazy guy at the end.
My tolerance for QA has reached an all-time low. I bitched about it a good bit last year. This year, I left during most QAs, and had my friends fill me in if anything worthwhile was mentioned. It's the worst during VA panels, where they're basically 100% QA. I skipped Cullen (seen him twice, and not sure how I didn't blow my brains out at them), and missed the first half of the Weird Al panel (which I heard was hilarious, but what I saw it was hard to balance between praying for death and enjoying it).
Lanny's face was hilarious. He was completely stunned. I was torn between laughing my ass off and wanting to rip that kid's head off. Everytime he was in that damn QA line he was like that. Nothing was worse than the Hasbro one though. Apparently he's waspinator3000 for those on the club boards. And he likes to squint a lot.
I agree, Tempting Toys booth was a mess. I couldn't believe how they treated some of their carded stuff. Plus the owner was a total douche. As for the convention. I think the only enjoyable part about the whole convention was Paramount and that was it. The dealer room didn't really have anything special that you couldn't find anywhere else. Pretty lackluster. The panels were okay. Oh well.
