Character-wise? Perhaps. Most definitely not Mold-wise though.

 

Since it's the customization class figure, I'll just tweak the paint a little to repurpose it as Apelinq's upgraded Hyperlinq form!

 

I hope they include the stickers for those not in the custom class this year...

Not my cup of tea, but cool for those that are into it. I do like this option better than the Red Alert option some were talking up.

I seriously wish they'd plug G2 Sideswipe and Animated Minerva into the next subscription series. I'm not happy I had to miss out on both of those and am not interested in KOs or the aftermarket prices for legit versions.

The masterpiece figure has certainly helped me feel better about all that garbage but I was pretty heated about it, and vocal enough that I got a lot of heat with Pete since I had closer ties to the club back then, I still say it was a bonehead move and having a G2 theme set with the main G2 figure everyone wanted be such a 'lucky draw' item showed no forethought, especially when the story from Joecon leaked about them seeing the mockup and saying 'wow, people are going to be mad, good thing we have ours'. It really left a sour taste in my mouth for the club. Ideally Streetstar should have been the class figure with Sideswipe moved to either the Baggie sets or the attendee bonus.

 

What a disappointment. I really wish they would reveal the figure before ordering the packages. Oh well that's what eBay is for

AGREED. Minerva is one of my big regrets for not being able to get. I snagged Future Past Rumble only by the luck of a friend unloading his whole collection and giving me the first shot at it.

 

So if the Custom is red and called Primal Prime - then I have to wonder about the Apelinq as he obviously can't be quite so red now (Like his minicon self) and if they are not careful the figure they make may look way to much like Cybertron Beast Optimus Prime if sports a part tan coloured deco.

I don't hate it - of it ends being given away like a cornflakes toy like the last one does then that will be all for the good... (But surely they can't over order 2 years running ?)

 

Wow this is the first botcon that I literally do not want any of the figures. So disappointing

 

What theme?

Pirates vs. Knights? That's the theme of the story/fiction. Can't really judge how they embraced that until the fiction's available.

The toy-selection theme of representing the various eras of Transformers and Botcon over the last 30 and 20 years respectively? I think that's pretty well embraced.
