botcon celebrated CR/Rid 10th anniversary. will Hasbro do anything in 2011 for Rid?

The takara Transformers toy line called "Car Robots". was released in japan in the year 2000 with a cartoon series.

Hasbro a year+later in the year 2001 released a transformers toy line in America called "Robots in Disguise." which also had a cartoon series.

I noticed that the botcon owners fun pub celebrated the Car robots 10th anniversary by releasing a botcon convention figure called Skybyte.

I also noticed that in the year 2011 The botcon owners will be celebrating the Hasbro "Robots in Disguise" 10th anniversary by releasing a freebie club figure of Sideburn.

I'm just wondering if Hasbro cares or realizes that in the year 2011 it will be the 10th anniversary of their "Robots in Disguise" toy line & cartoon series.

I suspose it would be nice to get a few recolors,re-releases or new molds based off the 2001 "Robots in Disguise" toy molds.

    Here's a few ideas.
    (1) Since skybyte, the 3 predacon basics, scourge & the combaticons received old previous molds that got recolored & put in CR/Rid. how about giving some of these guys brand new molds based off the cartoon art designs.
(2)since the 3 Rid train brothers were mega sized. how about making 3 deluxe sized rid train brothers that can combine into a gestalt. this way it'll sell better in america & keep getting re-released a few times. because hasbro & fans love buying deluxe sized TF toys.
    (3) how about doing straight up re-releases of the 3 RID car brothers. no different color variations. just regular 2001 colors.
    (4) how about 2 voyager sized molds for RID Optimus Prime & Rid ultra magnus. each character will be voyager sized. they'll combine differently & look better.
    (5) maybe hasbro can create basic sized or deluxe sized molds for the RID spychangers. it would be nice to see those guys a bit bigger & with more poseability.

I imagine if Takara does something then Hasbro will. RID was Japan's baby, not ours.

I think Hasbro's kinda shoved RiD off into the corner at this point.

Well we know #3 wont happen, the molds for the Autobot Brothers are pretty much dust at this point from overuse. Honestly RID was pretty much just a holdover line for the USA since Transtech got axed and these toys were just available from Japan without effort. The Club is doing a repaint of Classics Rodimus as Sideburn though, and I suppose we could see a repaint or two homaging the line, since they've been going so obscure lately. We got so many repaints of the first RotF Scouts we might get Brakedown as a Spychanger. But I think new molds of any kind are a lofty hope.

If we get anything, it'd probably be just CUG-style figures for X-Brawn, Prowl, and Side Burn. If we're REALLY lucky (and I'm talking Felix Felicis lucky), maybe they'd take another crack at Prime and Ultra Magnus, and give the latter some leg articulation.

HasTak probably couldn't give a rat's ass about the Build team, Spychangers, Team Bullet Train (sadly) or Megatron

I'll admit Megatron & the combiners seem like it'll take the most effort to create new toy molds for any RID 10th anniversary.

I'd prefer hasbro/taking centered their efforts & resources into doing my preferred 6 changer SIXSHOT new mold toy. rather than wasting time doing another new mold 6 changer for Rid Megatron.

Perhaps once the new mold super poseable sixshot toy gets created & released in stores. hasbro+takara can recolor sixshot into Rid Megatron.

I don't know if I would really want a giant hand Megatron.

Hasbro didn't much for the 25th anniversary of the ENTIRE franchise, so why would they care about the 10th anniversary of RiD, which was a holdover line anyways? I could see maybe a new mold RiD character showing up in the Generations line, maaaybe, or a new release of the cartoon on DVD I guess but not much more than that.

If you're looking for more RiD homages, I'd look to Takara or Botcon. Hasbro has next year's movie to worry about.

We know TFCC's gonna acknowledge it again with Sideburn being the club freebie in 2011.

I too doubt Hasbro will do anything. If they do, it's probably going to be an exclusive.

    I wish.

I could see Hasbro do an X-Brawn repaint of Universe Ironhide and i think that would be it.

I guess Ruination and Landill repainted from Bruticus Maximus and Devastator.

But other than that i don't think it would ever happen. shame I'd love deluxe size Bullet Trains that combine into Rail Racer. :(

I can see FunPub doing something for the 10th anniversary, maybe an appropriately themed Botcon set? As for Hasbro? Given the half-hearted effort they put into the 25th Anniversary, I'm not expecting anything to happen. FunPub seem like the better option because a lot of fans in the 25-35 age range were brought back in by RiD, a demographic group Botcon etc is geared toward.

As an additional point, where did Botcon celebrate it this year? Aside from Sky-byte I don't recall RiD getting a nod.

I wish as well RiD seems to be a highly ignored show/toy line. (next to beast machines)

To be fair, as a show and toyline it wasn't very creative. The toyline especially seemed like an experiment to see what they can and cannot get away with in terms of repaints and old molds.

While I am happy for the Rodimus fever TakTom is providing for 2010, I'm also sad that Car Robot got shafted. They could have given us MP Fire Convoy :(  :(  (I am half kidding)

I hope Hasbro/Botcon will do something for RiD next year.

With the new marketing philosophy being that every two years they have to reboot or remake the entire line into something new, every year or two will be the anniversary of something. And pretty soon we'll start getting overlapping anniversaries... It would get a little ridiculous.

The only dates that are probably worth commemorating are launches of G1, BW, and the 07 Movie.

If Botcon made RID repaints of Classics then I think they would receive accusations of laziness since they would have to use a lot of the same molds they used for their G2 set.
