1994 BotCon Breakdown Hasbro G2 Transformers MOC - eBay (item 320570779927 end time Aug-10-10 17:45:31 PDT) Hawt dang. Missed out on the AMS piece at Botcon. But 800 seems like too much coin for me. Wonder if it will sell.
That's quite the starting bid. Why not just have a BIN/Best Offer listing? The final value fees are less with listings like this.
Maybe he actually thinks he's gonna get more... I'll be surprised if this sells this time around tho.
I talked to AMS at Botcon. He said the first thing he sold at Botcon was the 1994 Breakdown. He had hope 300 for it but was able to sell it for 500 first thing. Still 800 seems way too high.
Eh, I'm still glad I chose to get the G2 Blades from Paul H. instead of one of these. Granted, I neglected to realize I needed to have a complement to the G2 Blades....
I think Ebay is having a promotion where the listing fee is free and the FVP is 9% regardless. I think only certain sellers qualify.
Well it's only $0.50 to list a BIN/Best Offer item. So he wouldn't be out that much. Besides, the listing fees are not what kill you. The final value fees do. Of course I keep forgetting that eBay caps the fees for auction style listings. The highest you will pay is $50. So that might explain his decision to go auction style. Still, not much of a difference IMO. Only a couple of bucks if that Breakdown sells for $800 ($50 versus $51.50). He's clearly expecting that Breakdown to go for more though.
At the risk of offending someone on these boards, I'd say that bidder is pretty desperate. That is a whacky starting price for that item. I'd be shocked if it gets any more bids.
Good for that guy. With the fandom growning, it doesnt surprise me, plus that damn card is mint as hell.
Regardless of what this auction may sell for at the end of the day, I'm totally happy for the Buyer. It is afterall, an uber rare piece of history that never got mass produced back in those days...
Oh, I don't totally fault him for bidding. That Breakdown is far from abundant. However, I think it speaks volumes about this fandom's level of patience. It seems non-existent. I just worry that impatient buyers make things worse for other buyers. If he's willing to pay that, that hurts someone else that would like to get it for, say, $500. You can't tell me with a straight face that $800 is a good price for that piece.
Its not too bad a deal, if you're comparing a G2 Breakdown (USD $800) to a set of G2 Stunticons (minus Motormaster) that's asking for USD $15,000.
Heh, true. It's all a matter of comparison. I can't imagine EVER spending 15K on a few toys. I would have to have a lot of expendable income.
In the late 90's these sold in the $300 range. A decade later i wouldn't be surprised if they sold for $600 - $800 a piece. The other unreleased g2 stunticon limbs last sold a few yrs ago for $2k+ each I believe. Look at darksyde megatron, that piece sells for over a grand and it only came out a few yrs back. I may decide to sell or trade one of my three '94 g2 breakdowns in the near future. But it probably won't be using eBay since I prefer to deal locally.
I believe there were about 312 or so produced. my first one was acquired in 1998 or 1999. It took me a span of 10 yrs to get a total of three. I don't need anymore.. lol. I myself have seen just under two dozen sell on ebay since the late '90s.
I got mine for $85 like 8 years ago as the Jap guy I got it from had a bunch, They say there was only 300 but I think its more like Botcon only got 300 and who knows how many were sold at the other con they were also a exclusive for. $800 I think is high but $500 sounds fair.
