I thought BotCon had a complete ban on everything 3rd party. I am seeing a ton of pics of upcoming products which is sweet. But what's the deal? I am surprised Hasbro is not shitting bricks...
Yes I saw that. But just two years ago they had a complete ban on anything 3rd party. Dealers were not allowed to sell it or display it. Captured Prey was having to sell it during special sales in the hotel. What changed?
A Overwhelmingly negative reaction from the fans. Thats what happended and it made Hasbro take pause, then retract a step. It seems when Hasbro came out all Gestopo last convention in thier ziel to protect thier I.P., they managed to totaly alienate thier own customer base and it resulted in a universaly hostial backlash by that of the fans. The outcry at the Con, as well as on social media, was over whelming and it seems that Hasbro winced under the light that it painted them as a company. They silently retracted thier stance on how they would go about enforcing thier IP protection and withdreww to rethink thier stratagy as how to go about it. A comapany's PR image is important and they wish to maintain postive relations with the adult collector fanbase so it seems...as proof by "get your figures made to order" by thier deal with Diamend.
some back and forth about 3p and hasbro Ip infringement was in the tread..thought it related to your Op
