See you at hasbrocon. The only official transformers convention.
Some people only invest in official merch. For some that line is 3P, for others Botcon stuff never really counted either.
If it ever happens again
Also for people on Facebook, the BotCon page is doing a flash sale on various exclusives and pre-production samples, including a 2012 Breakdown for a whopping $20 (unfortunately already claimed), among other things.
If they’re doing this unlicensed they’re not getting access to molds
Given this a "3rd Party" 6 inch GIJOE look alike company that the Waspinator is coming from, I doubt you will see HASBRO Bots as exclusives.
I'm expecting some decent mass produced customs of Hasbro retail products that are unofficial to show up as other exclusives though.
Maybe exclusive 3P repaints like TFCon?
Also very possible...
What would be the legality of a convention mass-producing customs and then selling them?
Because I assume Hasbro has no issues with people who do commissions or customs on the side...but doing so at a convention scale would be an interesting gray area.
As at that point the Con would have to take steps to make it clear they aren't affiliated. As Hasbro wouldn't want consumers to get the impression they had anything to do with convention figures if issues arose.
Maybe they can work with Weijang for some exclusives?
This looks awesome.
So glad to see the Action Man toyline, the grandfather of G.I. Joe, return in some way.
Very glad that the con with the shitty guy isn't gonna have any exclusives worth caring about.
Cool that BotCon will have exclusive merchandise again. I wonder what’s changed on the ownership side as it’s no secret they have been opposed to third party figures, especially if there are robots incoming.
Because they are unlicensed otherwise it's the same terrible management as always.
Yeah I don't think anything's changed. I can't wait for all the bitching about 'Hasblow' and how evil they are for not tolerating FunPub's B.S. practices, but hey, they made this knock-off GI Joe so who cares, right?
I know they’re unlicensed. What I meant is the ownership has never liked third party figures, so what has changed from their viewpoint to where they are now okay offering third party figures.
Hasbro didn't want 3P, Funpub never really minded them to my knowledge. With no Hasbro, no pushback against 3P
This isn’t official. No Hasbro is involvement in Botcon 2021. It is just Funpub, who still owns the rights to the name Botcon.
