Really not liking FunPub's use of the Combiner Wars molds. Feels like Oprah handing out free combiner war technology to everyone in the audience. I've always like their creative uses of molds, but I'm not a fan of them cashing in on this current gimmick this heavily. Neat for people that like it, though! I know there are people out there who are psyched about everyone ever combining, so all the more power to them.
Not only that, in a lore/fiction sense, the Transformers arms race - triple changers, combiners, the various -masters - usually comes with risks and challenges. Triple changers were the result of horrifying experiments, and combiners often suffer mental instability or have simpler minds. If everyone can combine, does that mean there's no more risk of mental insanity with the process?
I'm personally more excited by: "will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ground breaking cartoon and toyline BEAST WARS."than the figure itself.
They should also be bringing at least a few BW voice actors for the show as well. For the 2006 show they practically had half the voice cast from the show there.
Sorry but this is appauling. BW needs a much better attempt here. After all, BEAST WARS brought Transformers back, not Michael Bay.
The idea of a dual homage to BW Ravage AND the Alternators Battle Ravage is neat... However, using the CW figures... results in a not-so-great execution. Also given the colors... I can see them homage the Alternity Black Convoy with a Prime head. Would it be just as appalling? Sure... but why not!?
They just did one last year. Inside the double pretender was a redeco of swerve and his targetmaster.
The Breakdown mold looks good in black. Eh, we'll see what the rest look like, but I'd like to see some of the lesser BW characters get used.
Forgive my ignorance but isn't a bit early for this? I also didn't expect them to use combiner war molds this soon
Well, it'd been announced that CW was the theme this year. Also Botcon '16 is way earlier than usual.
Even if I don't get the boxed set, if the attendee extras and 2-packs are any good, I may get some via the TFCC store.
I like it. The only other recent beast molds are Rhinox and the Hunters Predacons. This is something different with classic characters. Which is always what Botcon has been.
Wow.....That thing looks hilarious! What is this the 7th time we'll be seeing a remold of Breakdown? Oh well, you know the saying when it comes to FP. "Better this then something we've been dying to get at retail!"
