There's a Ravage X9 on eBay for $50 + $7 shipping. He accepts best offers so I can probably haggle closer to $50 total. Should I?
I see no Ravage X9 on eBay for $50. Cheapest one is like $200. Either you bought it or someone else did. Either way if that was true it was a steal. At that price I wouldn't have haggled at all; I'd have just bought it before someone else did. I think I paid $100 MIB for mine.
It was this listing: Transformers Alternators Ravage Jaguar XK with Instructions | eBay Aaaand bought it.
Oh, when you said "Ravage X9" I thought you were talking about the expensive Beast Wars toy made from Transmetal Cheetor's body and a new head. This is Alternators Ravage, something completely different.
If it's really Beast Wars Metals Jaguar X-9, then yes $50 is a steal. (Make sure they're not trying to sell you Black Panther instead first).
I think it looks cheap and tacky. Or, in other words, it looks like a very good Transformers Collector's Club toy.
that's what i thought too...i'm not a beast wars fan but i'd have bought the x9 at that price....alternators...egh...$50 is about right for alternators
This whole idea is just dumb. Let the Beast Wars fans celebrate at mass retail, and use the CW molds for actual combiners. List of better ideas that can be done using the molds: Sixturbo Superion Maximus Bruticus Maximus Grand Convoy A state side version of Grand Scourge A grey version of Galvatronus w/ sweeps Ruination G2 Defensor G2 Bruticus
Some of these Hasbro is likely to take care of, like G2 Bruticus and possibly G2 Defensor. Releasing US versions of things like Grand Scourge is a bad idea as people who really wanted him could get the Japanese one for less. And they're both marketed to the same customer base so there isn't a point. Randy
Well the thing they're homaging is a Beast Wars combiner so technically the molds are being used for an actual combiner. Only reason Ravage is being added is due to two extra members being needed for Combiner War's five member minimum. And most of the things you listed sound more like retail exclusives than something worth doing a Botcon set over.
In 2006, Botcon did a Beast Wars 10th Anny set using Cybertron molds. There were also BW reissues at retail. In 2016, Botcon is doing a Beast Wars 20th Anny set using CW molds. And we've already seen at least one BW/BM homage coming to retail. And given they appear to be using minor characters versus Axalon/Darksyde crew suggests Hasbro wants those to be free. Not to mention we already know about the BW MP series Takara will be doing. And I say this as a BW fan already getting my little nest egg set aside to buy King Predacus (or whatever they actually call him). People are ignoring a lot of Hasbro/Botcon history to pretend like they have a valid point.
I imagine people were more accepting of the 2006 set because it was based on the idea of those being pre-Earth modes. This set being them as modern day cars...I just hope they pull a decent fictional explanation outta their butts.
Since when has Botcon released a straight un-modded import as a con exclusive? Even Breakdown was retooled for 2015 Megatron.
