Isn't the set going to be Combiner Wars something? I thought that had already been strongly hinted.

This set was decided and approved over a year ago when CW wasn't available to them now I could be completely wrong on this, this is SOME of the stuff I heard and take with a whole bucket of salt

Combiner Wars versions of the Axalon crew?

Personally, I would like something somewhere in the set that acknowledges Beast Wars 20th anniversary. But lest we forget, 2016 is also 30 years of the original animated movie - so we might see something there.

Wow its only five to six hours away and yet there iso much keeping me away...
    1) I don't know class schedules next semester since I'd have to skip Thursday & probably Friday.
    2) Even if that wasn't the problem, I'd need a part time to afford both the ticket & souvenir sets.
    3) If I did get a part time job I doubt they'd let me take that weekend off.

Ugh, I'm going to stick with what I said back in 2013 at my last BotCon, "I'm never going to be able to go to BotCon again".

Could be the box set will be Combiner Wars and the add-ons will be SG Beast Wars. But what could they do, mold-wise?

    SG Rhinox is easy.
SG Waspinator is the same color scheme as the Mudfighter Waruder we just got, so they won't do that again.
SG Rattrap is doable, but the mold was in last year's box set.
SG Dinobot would have to come from the Universe 2.0 mold.
SG Cheetor would also have to come from his (widely panned) Universe 2.0 mold.
SG Optimus Primal from his original Beast Wars toy?
SG Transmetal Megatron from the FOC Grimlock remold we've seen?

SG Dinobot is the Universe version of the figure. SG Terrorsaur is him in Lazorbeak colors, and without there being a new Terrorsaur figure they'd just be releasing the same figure in those colors again. Waspinator was done as you mentioned, and Megatron was the 10th Anniversary Deluxe in Optimus Primal colors. Scorponok was identical to BW Sandstorm. And Tarantulas is him in his Fox Kids TM body.

So not a lot of draw for SG BW figures, at least as they've shown us thus far.

This will be the first time I get to go and I'm from the Louisville area! Can't wait.

How much do the exclusives/packages usually run, so I know what I'm in for?

It's funny the location, like ACC2008 said. This is the big Beast Wars 20th. They acknowledged the 10th, and that's one of the more coveted sets they've released, being matched with the 2008 shattered glass set. Funny though. 2008 & 2012 fell in April. Both of them leap years. 2016, also a leap year falls in April. 08 & 12 were SG years. So I'm thinking (and hoping) for Shattered Glass Beast Wars. It definitely needs to happen. And this would be perfect!

If it's Beast Wars, it would most likely be Beast Wars Uprising. Though I wouldn't mind getting a SG BW Megatron.

Just about every year is an anniversary of something Transformers, so it seems unrealistic to celebrate every potential anniversary. It's all going to come down to what Botcon wants to use as the tie-in.

2016 - BW and Animated movie, 15th for original RID, 5th for Rescue Bots (toy line)
2017 - 10th anniversary of live action movie, 15th for Armada
    2018 - 10th anniversary of Animated, 25th for G2
2019 - 20th anniversary of BM and ROTF, 15th anniversary of Energon, 20th for Victory
    2020 - 5th anniversary of new RID
    2021 - 15th for Cybertron

I'd love to see Combiner Wars based on Rescue Bots. It gets the people who love RB more complicated figures.

I'm new to conventions and the like, and this one will be a few hours drive for me. I'm interested in attending but going every day it's going on is highly unlikely for me.

My question for those in the know...what are options for attending something like this on a day to day basis? A primus package or something similar is likely out of the question as well. I'm more interested in going Saturday or even Sunday when the dealers are trying to quickly liquidate their inventory of things in order to not have to return back home with their products.

My old hometown! Wow. That was unexpected since there is little that is noteworthy about Louisville.

I'd be surprised and pleased if the Botcon theme was BW, but I don't know if that'll happen. Outside of homages periodically, they don't acknowledge the Beast era often. I wonder if it has to do with Beast Machines being the Voldemort of the fandom for some people.

Yeah it what would have been really cool is if they had chose a place or state that never had a BotCon before period.

Personally I'm just itching for one in the New York state.

This sadly wouldn't surprise me if they did something like that.

They did have the 2006 set, Airrazor, Trantulas in supscription service, Transmutate and Rampage, they've covered a lot of the main characters.
