Ok but you also seem to forget you're not paying all that JUST for a $60 toy. You're paying all that for panels, sometimes hands on toy reveals, autographs, collectables for your own collection, networking, and whatever else goes on

If you spend travel, hotel, food, and admission and all you get is a figure and a sign pointing to the exit then I feel you have a point. But all that you pay goes for a botcon experience others may not be able to afford or can't get to for a multitude of reasons. Others that dont get all the experience you do shouldn't feel the need to "pay for your trip" or "pay for your hotel" to get three legends class figures that kinda form a shitty camera.

Some mark up is expected but over double the price you paid? I ain't paying for your personal experiences and memories im paying for a damn toy that you obviously don't want

Now I'll stop talking about scalpers

I'd love to discuss it, but it's been requested we not do it here... If another thread is created, I'll happily respond.

I almost regret jumping on the non Megatron non Reflector figures but seeing them displayed in the glass case did make them tempting. You're probably right though; those guys will go down in price.
I'm not sure if Megatron ever WILL go down in price since it's a popular character and it's a figure people have wanted since the unreleased reveal years ago. I also can't understand why FunPub limited that particular figure to a mere 850 when the full 1500 would've probably sold out.
At the very least though this Megatron is unlikely to ever be as overpriced as the Botcon 2006 one. At the very least this time they were good about the 1 per attendee limit on Megs and 850 is still better than 500. I think I'm always gonna lament not having Botcon 2006 Megatron to go with this one but I'm always gonna be glad I went to the last con and did pick up a Megatron.
I have to admit I didn't appreciate this until this botcon. Up until this Botcon 3 of the other ones I attended were 15 minutes from my house and the other was in Sandiego which is still not as much (plus I roomed with friends which made it less of a financial burdain.) It isn't until you actually have to attend the con far away that you realize just how much it ends up costing. Granted as Optimusmangus amends, you ARE also getting the extra day of con, the badge that allows you pretty free entrance to the events, stuff like the casino night as an added perk, and the freebie figure.

Well, it kinda is. Remember, Botcon's only easy to get to if you actually live in America. Left-overs of some characters made it over to the UK for Auto Assembly last year, but we had no idea this was happening in advance or which characters.

Opportunistically buying something and selling it to other people for a huge mark-up is scalping.

Please note that this isn't a judgement call - I'm not saying there's anything necessarily wrong with being a filthy scalper. I just think it's important not to kid yourself about it if you are.

They finally made Transmetal (3) Megatron. And his eBay prices are already ridiculous. I wish I wasn't poor.

^There was no "(insert number) to a customer" rule? That's pretty stupid.

Do it, and I'll remove you from this site for inciting.

I don't agree with one person buying the whole stock, but what you suggest would be crossing a line.

Equally if they show up and brag about buying the whole stock, they would cross a line and be removed too.

If true, A) total fail by the botcon people for not limiting it to 1 per customer and B) total A-hole move by whoever purchased them

That is pretty messed up, did you see this in person? How much stock was left? Whoever that is has now cornered the market on the megatrons and will see a big profit. I wonder if it was a dealer at the show? I remember stuff like that happening before in years past but I am surprised that the club did not impose limits on the amounts one could purchase. I expect that there were probably some fans in line this morning who wanted to purchase megatron and will now come away empty.

ON second thought, BBTS has done this a lot in the past, why would we expect anything different?

It was a limit of 1 Thursday and Friday. The limit is lifted on Saturday.

It'd be funny if it was TFSource after getting banned...
