I can't imagine people NOT having them. Even at small Ohio shows, just about every dealer utilizes them. May have to tack on the small fees (don't let anyone try to say brand x is 8% LoL - It's basically 3% for the 2 most popular types, Square and Paypal) but they are usually minimal, unless you buy a gigantic load of stuff. But paying an ATM fee and snagging cash at the show may end up cheaper. Cash is also a better negotiator for discounts.

 

I usually go the route of paypal gift payment at the show. It's just like paying cash but no risk or ATM fees.

 

Oddly enough, if I see something one of my friends want, and offer the dealer a Paypal payment - they have NEVER accepted it in any form. Cash or credit only. But hey, whatever works!

 

Really?? Why not, who doesn't have paypal and who wouldn't want a gift payment? That's just dumb on their part.

 

We usually don't pass the fee onto our customers as it really makes a business look bad in my opinion. We just eat it as a cost of doing business. I usually tell folks that if you're going to a show, figure out what you want to spend and then withdraw that before you go so you don't have to pay ATM fees. If you see something you want that is more than you have, that's when you pull out the card.

My thinking is, it depends on how fast the set sells out. If it sells out fast, jump on that $70 because that's a great price. If the set is still available on Sunday, that $70 is starting to look a little steep, and you might be able to get it for cheaper.
