So has anyone else read it yet? The basic plot seems to be that Cannonball an crew come out of transwarp following a map they got in the club magazine. they raid a nearby planet, bribe Flamewar into joining them. (cameos by lots of obscure toys on the planet) Ginrai learns that communicatons was lost with that planet and calls in the knights. Cannonball plans to use the head of Unicron to drain Cybertron, whichshould be rich with energon. The knights show up, they fight. Cannonball activates the energon collectors and... nothing happens. Alpha Trizor (who is Cheetor!) explains that they can't drain a technorganic world. Doh! (cameo by Rook and Battle Unicorn) - Yep, the transwarp landed them in the future after the Beast Machines and Universe stories! Epilogue, the Hunter pirate has heard a call and answers it. He becomes Shokaract and starts the Omega Point story.
Thanks for the summary! I've been trying to track down info on this comic and not really found any. The Wiki seems to drag a little on Club comics and I didn't particularly want to try to buy a comic off someone.
Is that Axor seen among the pirate crew on the opening splash page? He's talking and standing between Brimstone and Cannonball. I didn't expect to see an obscure movie toy thrown in among a set of TFCC exclusives. Spotting some of the other obscure characters, the guys on Gladaria included Meanstreak, 1995 Power Master Ironhide and Rescue Force combiner (who has Leozack head and Killbison? arms!) Flamewar seems to be standing on the corpse of Universe Treadbolt. In the photo of Primal Prime on the wall behind Alpha Trizer, you can see Universe Blackarachnia standing with him. Of course on the last page of the comic we see the old Botcon exclusive Shokaract toy.
I did! He was shanghaied into the Prime version of the Star Seekers by Thundertron. He's in there for the same reason that Cannonball and Brimstone are. Of course, now I have to track one down again... His Lockdown-inspired look is explained by the fact that he's a former Decepticon, turned Junkion, turned Star Seeker.
There is also a ?brown? version of Perceptor in the first shot behind Cannonball. Is that supposed to Magnificus?
no Alpha Trizer is Cheetor, probably in the same vein of Ultra Trion being Ultra Magnus who took over Trion after Alpha Trion died.
It says After Optimus Primal died, Cheetor took up his teaching in meditation. It was already established in the Fun Pub comics that Cheetor was linked to the Matrix somehow. Anyways, I think the REAL reason is because Hasbro has told Fun Pub that they can't use the original Primes as toys any after Nexus Prime. So I'd assume that with Hasbro defining Alpha Trion as of the original Primes too, Fun Pub got around it by making up the Alpha Trizor character. That's just a guess.
That's the Chairman. He's described in Tornado's Facebook blog. He transforms into Cannonball's captain's chair.
Is this set in the Wings universe? The Star Seeker pirate seems to be from the Wings universe, but the story seems to be set in the old Fun Pub Universe setting, where last we saw Alpha Trion was alive and working on Cybertron. Alpha Trion (G1) - Transformers Wiki
I think it's Wingverse -> future of the Wingsverse where something similar to, but not quite the same as, the Universe war happened. But that does bring up the idea that Trion could have come back so I dunno?
Well, it's the Universe setting where Alpha Trion was brought back to life after the events of Beast Machines. We know that. The question is, is it ALSO the Wings universe...?
Tornado's Facebook blog seems to suggest that, much like the Wings Universe includes an almost-but-not-quite version of the G1 cartoon, it also includes an almost-but-not-quite version of the old 3H Wreckers and Universe stories, and the pirates Transwarp into the aftermath of that. For instance, BotCon 2014 Apelinq has a vision of an alternate version of his life (ie. the original 3H version), in which he sees but doesn't recognise Shokaract, Optimal Optimus, and the events of the Reaching the Omega Point story. Also, BotCon 2014 Shokaract has a different origin story to the original: in the 3H material, he was from a Cybertron ruled by BW Megatron and the Predacons, and crash-landed on Earth to find the Dark Essence, whereas here he's a pirate and gets space-bridged there.
