As the Botcon 2013 theme has been anounced, I thought we could have a bit of fun by speculating as to what the 2014 theme will be. So, what do you think/want the 2014 theme will be? Given the theme of 2012 and 2013 I can't shake this nagging feeling that the theme for 2014 will be...Animorphs!!! Makes sense to me, it's the only way to trumph the 2013 theme. Think it'll be: Animorphs Want it to be: Classics
animorphs? it would be the most hated Botcon set ever. speculation for Botcon 2014 is pointless but one would hope Botcon does something to tie into the 30th anniversary.
Alligned Continuity Beast Wars. Classics Unicron Trilogy? Another TFA box set but based on Masterforce...even though they already did Minerva.
If Prime ends with season 3 in 2013, it'll be a Prime year, while memories of the show are still fresh.
I'd love Animated Protectobots... Though I think a nice 30th anniversary set would be Diaclone. A Prime set would be nifty too... Anything but Go-Bots. I would skip that so fast...
I'd still love to see a Masters set. Homaging Head, Target, and Power master characters. Bruticus could recolor into the Autobot Headmasters pretty easily... Besides that, I wouldn't mind some more classics. Bruticus could also be recolored into a pretty good set of Technobots. Can you tell I pretty much just want to get some Bruticus recolors?
Maybe it's because of my age, but when I was growing up, it was embarrassing when a relative bought you a go-bot for Christmas or your birthday, thinking it was a Transformer. I, of course, didnt have the heart to say anything and the Go-Bots became the their own little faction that everyone else picked on. Also God help the poor kid that brought a go-bot to recess at school....
My parents looked at it this way - Buy a single Transformer, or buy multiple Go-Bots for the same price? Personally, I was more than happy with my Go-Bots. I didn't collect TFs as a kid, and I don't remember watching the cartoon much at all, either. But I had me some Go-Bot action, and loved the show, as terrible as it was/is. Also, no one ever gave me flak for my Go-Bots preference. I don't know, maybe I was/am comfortable with what I like, and just don't see the need to be embarrassed. The toys are cool for the time they came from, and there must be some value, seeing as they've been absorbed into the TF multiverse. Also, Crasher was more entertaining then half the original Decepticons.
