So, i'm thinking about attending Botcon 2013...

This being said, how does one go about looking up the best deals in terms of hotels? Slash properly equite the time?

Figured i'd post this here... because, y'know... Tfw... errone has been to botcon. >>

The majority of people stay (or try to stay) in the official hotel at the BotCon rate. Then you split it with like 3 other people (or more) and it just makes it cheaper.

However, some people who want to stay on the super-cheap will look at surrounding hotels, but for me, staying in the "official" hotel is half the fun. The after-hours parts parties in the hotel rooms are some of the most fun you'll have.

Echoing xZAOx's comments. The afterhours at the convention hotel is an absolute blast between the parts parties and the hotel bar.

Also some hotels make it hard to get in after hours if you're not a guest, (e.g. requiring a room key to open any outer doors), which will make getting in for parts parties a lot more difficult.

If you can split a room with some good friends, staying in the convention hotel is the way to go during the convention (Thurs - Sun). Now if you plan to arrive before the convention and play tourist for a few days, then definitely find a hotel a few miles away from the convention hotel. You'll save some $$$ and get better amenities (i.e. free wi-fi, continential breakfast, free parking, etc), but once the convention starts, stay at the convention hotel. I've done it both ways and it's way more fun at the convention hotel.

As for how, go to travelocity, orbitz or any of the travel websites. You can also do a google map search for hotels near the convention center.

Both xZAOx, and motor master are botcon vets. What they say about the main hotel is true it is better to stay at the main hotel for the easy of walking to and from the dealer room/ panels and doing the after show events like the parts parties, hall of frame dinner/casino night event. Plus most of the board meetings will be in the main hotel bar or restaurant. Down side about staying at the main hotel is the hotel bill if your going by yourself.

I know of some other botcon vets that have stayed at other hotels for botcon cause it was cheap then the main hotel. Once they got there the hotel was run down, or was to far away to walk and that hotel did not have a shuttle

If your going to be on a tight budget for botcon then i say go for another hotel.

For me I have always stayed at the main hotel for the easy of walking to and from the dealers area, and most of the after events.

If that does not help you can pm me and i will answer it better for you

Got a question, is it worth me going

I went in 2009 and had a great time and got all the autographs and pics I wanted, I am not really inot the toys and would only get the primus package

I am flying from England between 5th July - 22nd July for UFC expo, a video game competition and san diego comic con

I would have to entend my holiday by another week but will there be better guests then 2009 I mean unless Frank Welker comes?

Thank you, I have taken your view on beard and will not attend this one, in fact I probably wont attend one ever again as they probably wont top 2009 as I went to paramount, met weird Al, Peter Cullen, Vince De cola and so forth.

Also lets be honest Frank will never attend a Botcon

The best thing you can for prices is to look at last years Brochure for prices and most asked Questions. If you want to know whats all in each package use this link
The Transformers Collectors' Convention - BotCon 2012!
    and click on information
Primus Package( 340 and 415 for non members)

Mini-Con Package ($90 for club members or $120 for non-members)

Protoform Package ($150 for club members or $225 for non-members)

Iacon Package ($340 for club members or $415 for nonmembers)

then you can upgrade to the golden ticket which is additional $300 on top of the Primus Package (total $640).

then you have the custom class Cost is $115 per person.
    or
pre-con tours which have range in price as low as 65 per person up to 115 per person

    Botcon and its spoils??

    Hi All,

I hope I've placed this in the right section....what I wanted to know from those who are veteran attendees at Botcons' past is. What is the open market main dealers room like for snagging hard to find figures? (ex. complete Japanese TF figures => Masterforce, Victory, Zone or European exclusives like Turbo Masters) and do the prices there tend to be higher for those figures than dealing on this forum and eBay?

I'm sure there a a few of each, but is the probability of multiples of each types of figure there very high. The reason for the inquiry is simply, the opportunity cost of travelling to the con, with the possibillity of not getting very much in the way of new pieces. For me, it's a fair bit of distance versus some of the smaller cons and I've never been.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

When I went in 2011 there was quite a bit of Japanese stuff about. Both Bodhar2000 and Hydra had stalls with some really nice Japanese stuff - I got a minty boxed Deszaras, there was at least one more in the hall. I also saw a Black Zarak, a Blue Bacchus, Guard City... that's just off the top of my head.

Someone usually brings a few good G1 Japanese pieces to each show. Tho I've not seen much of Euro exclusive G1 figures the past couple of years.
