Was the clue all 5 never got an update or just 3 and the other two are from the DISTANT PAST?

There are only 2 things I need for this set to be instabought. American G1 screen characters and Classics esthetics.

If these are G2 Classics or Diaclone colours Im out.

It was that 3 of them have never been updated yet, and 2 of them are being drawn from the 'distant' past... something like that.

I wouldn't mind a GoBots set- WreckGar as Cy-Kill (and Night Ranger), Thunderwing as Leader 1, Astrotrain as Spay-C, Wheeljack as Crasher, pretty much any tank as Tank, and even one of those little A/E/C minicons as Scooter, and ROTF Hubcap as Tux.

Calling it now: Wreckers Set. Springer and Whirl were done in the distant past (a couple years back :lol ), but could be done again. Top Spin, Twin Twist, and Broadside for the others, with Sandstorm as attendee fig. and Roadbuster somewhere in the souvenir sets?

    We can dream, right?

I'd LOVE Dinobots, but there haven't been any recent dinosaur molds to use for them have there?

I'm sticking to Jumpstarters - I think it's gonna be a Wreckers set. I think/hope we'll probably get Topspin, Twintwist, hopefully Overlord out of something, Fearswoop (seeker?), and Rotorstorm (Tomahawk?)

Wouldn't it be funny if it is a Wreckers set and they "borrow" Impactors design? After all he is a modified Warpath.

It would mark the first time the Official company stole from a 3rd party lol

There's already an official version of that using the Legends-class figure, so I doubt they'll do a full size take on it.

They did Alpha Trion out of Vector Prime in 2007, I can't imagine they would repeat themselves when there's so many other characters yet to be done.

    They said:
1 is a "MUST HAVE" for 80's fans.
    3 are first updates ever.
    2 are "distant" past.

That really doesn't help much. :(

Alpha Trion does not fit into the never updated clue but he sure does the "distant past" clue. Heck it could even be A3

3 are getting their first update ever, 2 are from the distant past... Does that mean 2 other one or two of those three?

First thought after 1980s was issue 80-81 US, but then what was the story through the UK 80s? Oh yeah Target 2006, And that starred ? Oh yeah Wreckers. And the leader of the Wreckers Impactor is something every fan of Target 2006 must have.

Jumpstarters would certainly fit as would Broadside.

Really this could be anything... but
Cybertronian Broadside using the Tidalwave (could also work for Overlord)

Racknruin pre merger (possibly similar to Topspin and Twintwist)

Most likely so wrong its not funny but it would be cool.

For FP's sake lets hope that they do not make Broadside. I think Tidalwave with a head mode and paint would be perfect and MAYBE enough to make people pass on WB02 which is rumoured to be a triple changing Broadside.

If this is a Wreckers set it can potentially hurt iGear and FP.

Well, I dunno, they did just that with Razorclaw. And you could sort of say that SG Goldbug was inspired partially by the Legends Hot Shot Bumblebee (boy, that thing seems like it existed a million years ago). Despite all that, I wouldn't bet on Trypticon. I think all those AEC molds are probably put out to pasture... as they should be, with all the awesome Generations and RTS molds available now!

As for "distant past," maybe not Alpha Trion, but what about Orion Pax from the Kup mold?

    We don't know. But I wouldn't assume the 3 & 2 don't overlap.

I'd think 6 is an unlikely number of figures to have in a boxed set, so *if* these clues all refer to boxed set figures only, then somewhere the 1, 3, and 2 probably do overlap:

I could see Overlord, but Broadside from Tidalwave is never happening from FP: too many parts(4) with Decepticon symbols to remold. Last 2 boxed sets only had 3 remolded heads, so remold more parts than that to remove symbols and still have no new heads? Nope.

    @Edgewise

How about 1 is talking about the entire set and 2 and 3 are talking about the individual moulds?

Has a Botcon boxset ever exceeded 5 figures?

The formula is usually 4 deluxes and a Voyager right?

I don't buy BotCon exclusives due to costs, but if I have enough money saved up I just might buy the boxed set, or even go to the convention!

Well, the 2005 set was seven figures.... but that was the first under FP's stewardship, and the "formula" hadn't really been established yet.

The "4 deluxes and a Voyager" thing isn't always the case, though, even in 5-figure sets. 2009 had Landshark and Flak, who were an Ultra (sort of, going by Energon standards) and a Voyager.

    Headmasters?

Must Have for 80's fans = Scorponok? Nevermind, they've had a couple Scorponoks haven't they...

3 are getting first update ever = Brainstorn, Chromedome, and Highbrow - we have Hardhead already?

2 from distant past = stumped.

I still say Jumpstarters. Somehow, someway.

yeah, that's what I was just gonna say... of the 3 hints, we truly know nothing, as maybe 1 figure is a must have, that's never been updated and from the distant past... but who knows...

1 is a "MUST HAVE" for 80's fans.
    3 are first updates ever.
    2 are "distant" past.

true. there's always some variance, so maybe a leader could happen, maybe a leader never will... we'll just have to wait and see.
