*converts back to OMG mode*
Wow, I kind of had flashbacks when I saw the TFA logo on the front page. God I've missed it.
*foams at the mouth*
I am very happy with that. Now, how am I going to get one of those non-attendee sets? I know I won't be able to get to Botcon, so...
Here's to wishful thinking that maybe Botcon TFA hubbub will encourage Hasbro to release season three on DVD. I'm still bitter about that omission.
Damn it, Botcon 2011, you have my money. Here's hoping for Wingblade or Powermaster Prime, or Marauder Megatron!!! Or something new! Maybe Strika or Spittor, or even Omega Supreme? With a set, the possibilities are wide...
Lame. I like Botcon doing ******ed joke stuff that nobody else would have the balls to do like G2 and SG, not continuing mainstream shows.
Oh well doesn't matter, even if I liked it I lack the money.
Well...son of a bitch. It is Animated. But that doesn't explain one thing:
What did they mean by "The invasion has begun..."? Animated characters invading the G1 universe?
srsly wtf where is my season 3 dvd?
Damn over 300 for animated figures.... might actually have to do it. Is botcon sold out?
Given that it's Season "3.5", I don't really think it's a continuation so much as another mostly stand-alone story, sorta like Dawn of Futures Past. I would really be surprised if any of that Season 4 stuff in the Allspark Almanac II shows up in this year's fiction.
Looks like I'll be selling my set.
Yeah, that would be too easy and uninspired.
It's very possible that they intentionally chose to say "3.5" as Season 4 has already been fleshed out a bit in the Allspark Almanac II and plenty of character designs were supplied. As Animated tend to be designed specifically with a single, easily identifiable character, it would be a difficult task to match those Wyatt-supplied designs with existing molds. By building a bridge between seasons, they could create their own story with representations of new characters and judicially use the limited number of new head sculpts available in their budget. (I don't recall, but don't they usually limit themselves to 3 or so new head sculpts?)
Reading that Wyatt was heavily involved is very good news, too.
Animated? Cool I guess - I loved the cartoon, but never really got into collecting the animated toys as I'm a die hard geewuner. I bought a bunch of Animated stuff when it first came out, but have since divested myself of all of it (except SoC - I love clear plastic). I've only got so much display case space at home, and I've decided to dedicate it to Classics/Masterpiece/Alternators.
If these are new unreleased molds then I'll definitely pick up a boxset - but if they are repaints, then it'll be an easy pass. Wasn't impressed with last years offerings or the year before. In fact the only Botcon items that I still retain are the Games of Deception guys and SG Prime and SG Rodimus (now safely wrapped in Shadow Scyther armor).
Considering how much Generations stuff, and third party stuff is coming out this year, the BC11 boxset is going to have to totally blow me away for me to drop 400+ on Animated stuff.
It's cool for the fans though - that's what counts in the end.
I'm actually really upset with this news...I've never been a fan of the animated figures and this being my first botcon i was looking forward to it. The only way this will work for me is if they make the Animated Characters using CHUG molds
Anyone can have this... I'm not a big TFA Fan.
Crap... My wallet already hurts at the thought of the potential deliciousness of those con exclusives!
Of course - if there's an Animated Wheeljack in this year's boxset, I will scream like a little girl at a Justin Bieber concert!
hopefully some of the additional exclusive figures that have nothing to do with the box theme will pop up like in 2009.
Okay, if that were to happen, I might just KILL someone to get the excitement out of my system. But probably not.
well, I was not an animated fan so I will save some money this year
