Theres a post office straight across the open plaza bit of the shopping centre. No more than 5 minutes walk away. It will be cheaper no doubt.

It is worth checking the cost of a third suitcase even. For what you can get in it compared to what you pay for a box its quite amazing, or if your travelling with someone with only one suitcase, pay the cost of a second one for them. A the second case usually costs less than a third case.

Remember if not inconvenient take the biggest cases possible or at least the one with TFs in, if your getting boxed toys you'll stay well under weight.

I usually try and fill less than a half of the smaller suitcase going out and put that inside the larger one so I don't pay going out. Or buy the second one while I'm out there. Theres a Target just down the road, and the usual large departments stores in the mall across the road that all sell luggage.

Is it odd that the schedule for the convention has not yet been released with only a month left?

Walk out of the convention centre, turn left towards the Mall across the road. Cross at the crossing. Walk in a straight line through the mall till you reach the crossing on the opposite side. Cross the crossing and walk up the steps slightly to the left. Open door and enter post office.

Thanks for the map, that helps a lot :)

Anyone know if there will be transportation from ones hotel to the convention center? Or do we need to take a taxi to get there? I ask because I am in the 3rd hotel block......

Im on the 3rd block also. Its less than a mile walk from there so you shouldnt need any transportation unless late at night. the last one in 09 someone got robbed infront of the hotel where the con is going to be held. So it might be safe to take a taxi late at night. Just saying.

Sorry should have been more specific. My question was referring to the list of panels/signings and their times. I thought in the past that stuff was announced prior to the start of Botcon but I could be wrong.

I don't think you are wrong. I was actaully talking about this to a buddy of mine. It seems as though we are close and none of the Celebrities have really been announced (sans Artist Alley). Hopefully it's cause they are trying to lock in some awesome people!

Salvage answer that question at his panel in 09. He will no long put out list of panel and autograph times until a week before the show due to 3 people cancaling on him for the 09 show. He would rather put the list out and everyone is 100% sure they can make it. Then him having to put out an that someone Cancal on him again

I've been coming since 06 and I don't recall ever seeing an official list of dealers in attendance.

No list or map of the dealer room. Supposedly because of having been burnt on people not showing up in the past, though the better "info" is that Fun Pub or Brian is afraid of other shows stealing a dealer by having their contact info.

I don't know about contact info, since that was never part of the maps. But the reason Brian has given me directly more than once is that it would provide a ready-made list of dealers for their competition to invite to other shows.

FWIW, I believe that this is a policy that is not only causing BotCon to proverbially shoot itself in the foot, but actually harms the dealers and could potentially reduce their interest. I also feel that it does the attendees no good, either.

    Botcon Question

Ok so if Botcon ever comes back to the Chicagoland area again, I was thinking of going. It will be my first time. I looked at the registration for just pricing and all but it confused me. I would like to go to the dealers area,Artist alley, panels and meet a voice actor. But I think it said like 25 dollars more if you want to meet any voice actors and you must have a wristband thing? I just want to know how much that would all cost to do those things so I can start saving now.

How much $$$$$ should I take to Botcon?

Hey guys, I've got a question that I've been wondering. I have been getting some good gigs the past month or so making some good money to save for botcon and some of my other expenses. How much does 2 days at botcon usually cost (i'm local to LA/OC so gas/parking doesn't really count)? I am going as GA. I am not usually a huge spender but when I see something I like, I'll indulge and buy it. Are the prices in the dealer room good? Any tips you guys can give me will be really helpful! This is going to be my first BC and I cannot wait to meet some of you finally. Thanks!

Money is really variable. I usually plan about $1200 in spending for the con, including the souvenier figures, but at times in the past I've planned as much as $2000. Thre's just no telling what you'll find, but once you set a budget for spending, stick to it.

There's always the "Oh the prices are eBay high/worse than eBay" claims for the dealer room, but the reality is, the prices run the same gamut they do outside BotCon, and you'll find everything from absolute steals to the worst scalping you can imagine. Most of us who go to deal don't jack up our prices noticably from the normal pricing (there may be some rounding off of prices to the closest dollar or five-dollar mark to make things easier to handle for sellers), and most of the pricing is where you would expect the normal value of an item to be if you shopped for it online or at a shop.

    Spot on.

It varies man. I spent as little as $500 to as much as $2000. IMO, the dealer room offers great prices (for the most part). Dealers are willing to haggle a little bit and the best thing about the dealer room is you'll definitely be likely to find anything you've ever wanted. That is also the problem, if you start finding stuff you've never seen before and really want you'll become overwhelmed and start making it rain with cash!
