I gotta admit, after just being there last year, I'm a bit miffed. I was really hoping for a place I could drive to being that we've had the last two Botcons at the extreme reaches of the country. Really, I'm not demanding it "be in my backyard", but I was hoping for a place that wasn't on a coast. I've driven to Kentucky and Cincy from Madison, WI and I'd gladly drive to Pittsburgh or St. Louis.

I realize the whole point of going there yet again, is because of movie 3, but it would have been nice to see some diversity. I mean, Lexington and Cincy are essentially next door to each other, but nobody insisted we go to one of those cities twice. They could have easily held Botcon 2009 or 2011 in San Diego or San Fransisco if they insisted on going West Cost for both years. Being that close to LA, I doubt getting celebrities like Weird Al would have been a problem either year.

I just hope and pray that this doesn't become a trend where they keep bouncing between Pasadena and Orlando, otherwise I'll be pretty much done with actually attending Botcon ever again. I'll just focus my efforts on Dairycon.

Holy crap, I'm finally going to a BotCon! :D  I've always wanted to go there once, to see what it was all about and to make it something memorable. Very fitting that I'll be going when the third and last (?) movie is about to come out, maybe ending the movie era. Definitely something to be there for!

So awesome that they announced it a full year before the event as that gives me plenty of time to save money for it. All you guys saying you can't afford it and that a year isn't enough to save up: Save up for two years then, or maybe three! Might not be able to attend BotCon for a few years, but if you really want to go there I'm sure you will if you put some effort into it. It all comes down to how badly you want to go. If I'm a few dollars short just before the trip (which is over 5500 miles long for me I might add...) I won't hesitate to sell some toys, a kidney, my brother, and my cats. ;)

And yeah, locustreign, Omnius, Easterling Capt. and myself in the same hotel room... My head explodes with epicness! :D  The raffle loser/TF dildo lover, that other British dude (sorry Rich, couldn't think of anything catchy ;) ), the Dancing Bumblebee, and the fat guy who scars hotel security guards for life... Pasadena beware! :D

Hmph. Think if I'm going to spend all the money it will take to go out to SoCal again, I will use it to go to SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) for the first time in my life instead. Sorry. :2c:

Think of me as the owner of that Armada Megatron, or the guy who didn't see your arse! (oh, that unfortunate security guard...)

I was planning on going last year until I saw the boxset and theme and decided that it was an easy pass. I'll think about going next year now that I have a date and location, but if it's way too much $, then I'll have to skip. Here's hoping that it comes back to the Northeast in 2 years!

The date is not so bad but the location does suck. I saw people posting on how it was a $2,000 trip for them last year and I sure don't have that type of money.

I'm 50-50 on Botcon being held in Pasadena again. I'll be able to drive there, so that'll save me money, but I'm not the biggest fan of the location.

Shit, it's going to be crazy packed there too. 2009 featured some of the LONGEST lines for general admission. You couldn't even walk in the dealer's room.

Apparently no one knows their BotCon history or continues to ignore what Dragonclaw posted a few pages ago.

I'll color code it to make it easier for you

    Midwest is Red
    East is Blue
    West is Green

See all that red? That means that BotCon has been in the Midwest more than anywhere else since it began. You can argue that the Lexington show doesn't count as it isn't technically considered the Midwest, but I think it is close enough to the tri-state area and you can't really consider it East Coast. However if you decide to exclude it from the Midwest numbers that brings their total from 10 down to 9.

It has also been on the West coast 4 times and the East coast 4 times, that seems pretty even to me, and seems a bit less than the Midwest. If you want to count Texas in the West crew then that brings it up to 5, and still not worth complaining about.

I am from the Midwest and I would say we have been pretty lucky with BotCons. I was able to drive to 4 of the 6 I have been to since there have been so many in the Midwestern area of the US.

The moral of the story? Calm the hell down. Sorry it isn't in your backyard, it isn't a band on tour coming to a city near you. Pasadena really worked well for them, and according to the comments from those who went (most of them not from anywhere close to California), they felt the same way.

Well, I for one don't care where it is because wherever it is, I have to fly there anyway*. So it doesn't matter to me. We're lucky to have this convention at all, and we're lucky it's gotten as big as it has. I don't care where they hold it so long as they continue to do so.

*I've always hoped they'd shake things up a bit by holding it here in the Southwest, but it's not likely to happen.

The date sucks too. It's hard to get memorial day week off.

Word. I've been to both Pasadena Botcons and they were both awesome. And I'm from nowhere near California. :)

I had fun in California last year but I kind of wish they weren't doing it in exactly the same place. It would be nice to go some place a little different at least.

The other thing I don't like about California is the taxes are so ridiculously high on evertything (ie hotels, convention exclusives, etc).

Ah well, ultimately whether I can go or not will depend on if I can get the time off so we shall see.

California will tax you when you use the restroom ;) . In all seriousness, that does get old.

However, the turnout for 2009 seemed incredible. It was soooooo busy on Saturday when the General Public was allowed in. While I have only been to that one BotCon, the convention apparently went over well in Pasadena. I think it is a good choice for BotCon 2011.

I just hope they don't have the same Hollywood tour :p  The BEST bart of the tour is when we got to see the LeBrea Tar Pits...not because it was planned...but because that's where we stopped when we left Ryan from Seibertron back on Rodeo drive and he had to catch up :lol

I do wish it had been San Diego or SF, just for variety's sake...heck I live here but I'd still do an Alcatraz tour with a bunch of fellow Botconners :p  I do this so much more for the people than the actual panels anyway these days :)

Alcatraz is a fun tour. Lots of walking to be had though. Not sure some of the, urm, bigger TF fans would like that.

The best part of the tour was seeing that guy walking down the street and peeing at the same time. It was pretty amazing. He clearly had perfected the art of walking and peeing at the same time. If I tried that it would make quite a mess I imagine.

I wasn't on the bus that had to go back for someone though so you might not have seen him.

SanDiego would be awesome. My wife would love going to the zoo and Sea World which is great because it's easier for me to justify the expense of a Botcon trip if it's something she will enjoy as a vacation as well.
