Not bad, but still a little disappointing. This is a great mold, so at least they did something right. Not fond of the paint job at all.
Oh don't take what I said as a negative comment. Roadbuster is great, and so's his colourscheme. I just find it weird there'd be like nothing for 20 years and then BAM, Roadbusted. It's awesome to see the character finally get some love, but wow, all at once? If anything, I'm most disappointed at the bio for this guy. He's the one new character they made this year, and the best they could do is "Lol I don't have a motto, but don't make fun of my name or I'll hurt you, ok? I'm just wacky that way!". That's unfortunate.
My favourite figure from the boxset so far but aside from being one of the few moulds I would have liked to have seen as Thunderclash and it's size seems likely to prevent any chance of my favourite choice for TC as well. (Cyb Prime) Whats worse they could have dsopne this character using BM Scavenger for a quarter of the price. And that would have had actual teeth.
Well there goes my hopes for a Sharkticon repaint. And he seemed to be the perfect figure to use for a character called 'Landshark'. I'm not going to Botcon, but if they gave us a Sharkticon repaint, sometime down the road I WOULD have bought it off Ebay or somewhere else for some amount I wouldn't care about. Of course, with the random and unexpected choices for the molds, maybe we can expect Sharkticon for Thunderclash or another figure.
Blech. The unpainted/uncolored rails on the trailer are hidious. This also means there's no excuse for using the Noisemaze/Sidways/Ratbat mold for Scourge, since the far more apt Sharkticon mold would've filled a much better role for the character. As it so happens, I just happened to have Landquake out recently. I love his mold, I really do. I was hoping we'd see the mold reused again, but not like this. I'd argued years ago for using it as a Rodimus Prime, then later as a comic based Sentinel Prime, either Prime with a new head. This? The color scheme is uninspired, the lack of a new head is disapointing, and the bio is poor. So far the box set uses one of the worst molds of its respective series that doesn't fit the character as Kup, a completely unfitting mold with a new head that's both squished and causes unsightly gaps in vehicle mode as Scourge, and a completely boring color scheme and uses one of the larger size box set figures for a near instantly forgettable character in Landshark. So far, comparing this set to 2005's is an insult to 2005. At least that set gave us a nice Ironhide and the first US Deszaras.
And none of them are Onslaught repaints. THAT's what should be in this slot. Or at least, THAT's the Universe Roadbuster I'm waiting for. This is a fun toy: good articulation, brute mode, gun platform, best colors it's seen. But the character is made of meh. Probably redshirted in the comic, if the history of worn-out Trek cliches is any indication.
That money I decided not to piss away on a loose Botcon set? It's going instead to Powered Commander.
I wonder why they arn't using anything with classics molds. I mean the last unrevealed stuff could be based on classics molds... but it's kind of odd considering the last coule of years they've been using them. I mean hell, there even going into hibernation with the line while the movie comes out. I'm wondering if they can't use them because they are being used for something else, or they just wanted to use older stuff by choice.
AFAIK is not by choice. It seems Fun Publications couldn't use neither Universe 2.0 molds nor Animated molds. Too recent, it seems. -airfox
Colorscheme looks pretty good on that mold. It's one of my favorites, though I can't really explain why... Honestly, I think it looks a little more "natural" (for lack of a better word) than the original Energon Landmine... but then again, I only have the Landquake recolor. Great toy, odd choice, pretty cool colors... That's 4/4 that I'm liking and will probably never own. At least it's not as aggravating as 2007's seekers, though. I was less annoyed than most, but I was pretty annoyed, at least about Thundercracker.
