Same here...I was a little underwhelmed when I read through the brochure.

I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there who will dig this, but I think this year just isn't for me.

The Paramount party sounds like it's going to be fun, but I'm a little concerned about this:

I hope that's a typo. IMO Protoform packages should also be allowed the option to go.

    Otherwise sounds pretty good overall.

The Hollywood tours sound interesting, other then that I have to agree I'm not seeing anything special here.

Well, if people don't dig the set, that's kinda good for me. Means it's more likely I'll get one.

For that matter, last year weren't there a lot of people complaining about how Shattered Glass wasn't that special? And look how well those toys turned out.

Once again, I'd rather wait until I see pics before I decide whether or not to spend a month's pay on this set.
And, once again, by the time I've seen a pic, they'll all be sold out already...
Sounds interesting, but I'd like to know more before I commit to buy.

Want to see the set before I bite... with the exchange rate as it is at the moment, $360 is a lot of cash for me. Of course, if it's Classics... I'll have to have it. gah.

Don't apologize, I think a good number of us aren't digging it either. I think for the 25th Anniversary they could have done something spectacular and I kinda think they missed the mark here, BIG TIME!

Personally for the 25th, I would rather have seen known G1 Characters(Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Hound, Etc.) but in their cybertronian modes (Maybe a mix of War Within, but done a little differently with the A/E/C molds).

I never thought of Kup as a main player in the G1 Universe, but more as a backround player and to give him his own Botcon Exclusive story line is kinda weak in my opinion.

I hope there are enough fans out there that do like this set but I can easily see this set not selling out and being sold in future Botcons as leftovers (Descent Into Evil anyone?)

Did i miss something? There is no casino/awards night? Also, what is the probability of seeing a screening of ROTF on the Paramount night?

Not necessarily lying, but people were tricked by the "Wreck" and "rule" phrases into thinking that the Wreckers would be the theme.
Props for pulling off the most believable misinformation campaign of all time. :lol

I understand for this storyline he is, but I think there are plenty of other characters from G1 that could have been used in which more fans would have been excited about.

That's cool, although I'd say it's more than just a few people who have spoken about that idea. I think Botcon toys should be VERY fan-oriented, and ARE directed at older collectors, based on the price. With this being the 25th anniversary, I'd also like to see an appropriate tribute to TF origins. The Diaclone idea meets both those criteria BIG time. Obviously, that all matters little at this point. *shrug*
I dunno. It sure would be something if they could make that happen... but aren't many movies still being finalized in the weeks leading up to their release? I wonder if it would even be 100% done by then, but I don't know.

I'm definitely "wait and see" on this one. There's always a risk in that, but this year I don't feel like I'd miss out on much if I gambled against a sellout.

Cybertron Prime (with a remolded head) seems a good candidate for Thunderclash, mainly for the heavily armed truck mode. Looking at the robot mode itself, Animated Optimus (Cybertron mode) would fit surprisingly well - it's not even necessary to remold the head.

Kup - everyone keeps talking about Animated Cybertron Prime for this one too, so it's probably unlikely both would use the same mold for two rather different characters.

Flak - Cybertron defence Scattershot seems the obvious choice here, except for the idea that the mold has been used a lot, even in the 'right' colors. Maybe smaller Scattershot on that one.

Landshark - no frickin' idea, as it's a totally new name and character, and there's a few possible ways to interpret it (could be beast mode, could be car, could be cake.)

Scourge - I guess it just depends on what kind of Scourge they're going for, as the name has been so many completely different things.

Which is funny, because IF you read the context of the posts and had been following the thread people would see that what I did was tongue in cheek. Everyone was debating if there were hints or not in Brian's initial post so I made 3 cryptic comments right in a row but the only one that got picked up was the first lol... I made a "Mayhem" reference and an "Actionmasters" reference as well.

Of course, the irony is, Brian did reveal the theme of the set in his initial post, so people who saw that from the beginning were right...

I'd like Diaclone repaints sometime, but there may have been some feasibility issues with it for Botcon:
    1. Not enough Diaclone repaints to do for a Botcon set(could expand with others, but that's not what you've said, just addressing what you've mentioned)

    2. FP's running out of molds, so perhaps they're saving the most recent molds and going for older molds while still available

    3. Red Mirage was rumored for a "special edition", so maybe Hasbro won't let FP use repaint ideas they're interested in. (Like what people say they should have done with the seekers)
