Hear Hear! I'm not big on this years set so far, but I really hope they can continue to sell out. Nothing but good can come from the club succeeding. Which reminds me, I need to renew my membership.
I would guess a lot of people got interested in Transformers after last years mediocre "Transformers: The movie" <sarcasm>. Scalpers/opportunists don't just walk the toy isle's.

wow, my guess is scalpers got them. Honestly I didn't like the purple optimus they have showed, and I will not pay for something I haven't seen yet. It would suck if they are all repaints.

I just think its a little ridiculous to charge the same for a fraction of what someone else gets if they purchase an attending package. You're getting less bang for your buck, totally not worth it. You buy the non-attending package you get the set. You buy the attending package you get the set, you get to go to the convention, and everything else that comes with it.
I am impressed. There goes my idea of waiting and seeing if I should get a second set for resale. I am happy that the sets are selling, though.

That's exactly what's happening without a doubt. They're gonna be seriously disappointed because there's no set of Classic seekers to complete this year. Dude! I posted this exact same argument about 100 times between the past 2 Botcons. You're totally correct but save yourself the trouble. The fans that support Botcon will flame the piss out of you until you shut up. I know, I've been there! Their answer is: "you're not supposed to be able to get a set unless you go to the con, so Botcon is doing you a special favor by letting you pay for the full convention even though you're not going to actually partake in any of the activities". You pay the same price for the full convention just to get the 5 crappy repaints & miss out on the entire convention. You can't fight their twisted logic. So don't even waste your time!
They may not be as popular as last years set, but there is also fewer being made. This set seems more popular than the 2005 set by far. Given that the 2006 set has also gone up in value, I would assume this one will as well. I'm glad I got my set.
Dude! Get over yourself. The whole idea of the nonattending package is so that those who can't attend the show can still get the toys with out having to pay even higher scalper prices. If they sold them cheaper just because they couldn't attend the show would cause more people to just order the toys and not go to the show. That would be bad for business. You've been flamed in that past for refusing to see logic thru the red-tinted glasses of your own emotions. Feel free to respond with an insult and a flame of your own because you feel I'm flaming the piss out of you as it will only serve to make my point.
Um, convention exclusives are always repaints. With the occasional new head or whatnot. The way I see it, I'd have to dish out even more money for airfare and a hotel room, plus the disruption of going out of town for a long weekend, in order to take advantage of the convention attendance that I pay for to have the box set sent to me. It's stupid, but I want the damn toys and don't care all that much about being at the convention in person. All the important stuff can be seen online afterwards anyway. Well, that's what I did last year. I'm hoping this year will be like '05 and '06 and I'll only want a few of the figures out of the line-up. That's more manageable via eBay and the Junkion exchange.
