Another Plasti-Crackhead hooked, huh?
I guess what I was asking in a roundabout way (and lots of use of Ctrl F) is if I concentrate on 8 packs (as they are cheaper per figure) and not 5 packs do I still end up having to buy the same 5 packs anyway due to unique Characters or can I skip some of them as they are in the 8 packs.
It certainly seems you can approach it another way if you can get one of the awkward ones like poo sham as a swappsy then you can buy a different 8 pack and skip one of the 5 packs that lacks unique figures.
I wonder if Wave 2 will have repacks or repaints - as that could change the whole set up of what to buy then if there is repacks.
I think I'm focusing in on it... but it's still going to take some thought with the reverse approach.
But their recomendations seem fair ; I have to get the 5 packs with
The Plop Father
It does seem that one of the 5 packs they recomemend could be swapped out for a couple of 8 packs to get the same toys though (if you had a reason to want to have some extra spares or had an easier job finding 8 packs) as it doesn't contain exclusives.
It is Grit Sandwood that was the key - he's in 2 sets but is unique to 8 packs so it looks like I need to buy one of the sets with Grit Sandwood in and this set :
Arctic Guzzlerush,Cuddletooth, Duderoni, Frohawk, Hawt Diggity, Lolly Licks, Screen Fiend, Stinkeye Stapleton (Lost Bot)
I picked up a couple blind bubbles, I haven't gotten to open them yet.
I had a completely different response but then realized I was misreading the page and I was completely wrong - so if you read my prior post, ignore it.
Regarding Sugar Shocks (5-pack #3) - Laceface, Point Dexter, Sprinkleberry D'uhnut, Unilla Icequeencone, Game Over (Lost Bot)
This one, while it doesn't have any exclusives, is still recommended because it is the most efficient way to get Sprinkleberry D'uhnut and Unilla Icequeencone. The other 3 are duplicates with other sets you'll end up getting by necessity, leaving just these two. If you don't get this pack then you'd have to get 2 other multi-packs as they only appear together here.
got a fomo and her head twisted off instead of, i'm assuming, turning around normally. anyone else had this happen?
i appreciate sprinklebaby so much that i could start a whole nother thread for him.
Did you guys see the Grand Opening Surprise thread?
Transformers Botbots Grand Opening Surprise listing
I'm STILL waiting on Entertainment Earth to ship their case of 8-packs. How do they get in everything else so early but these are still on preorder status?! So I can wait, personally. We'll probably see a bunch of Series 2 next week at Toyfair (and, I'm hoping, what's going on with the Bakery Bunch and Lawn League).
Not that I've heard of.
Yeah, I'm excited but I'm going to wait and see what it is before committing. If it's a mall playset with NEW Botbots, I'll buy, but if it's only select re-uses from other Series, I'm going to pass.
If it's Series 1's, I'll have more tradestock but I'm mainly looking at it as a storage container.
Ugh. My Walmart still isn't carrying these.
i don't know if it's true for every walmart, but mine are next to the mighty beans and the generic toys like marbles, army men and slinky. try looking there.
Will do. Thank you for the tip.
So, if Catz's reporting was right:

Assuming "72 characters" really means 72 different packages across four waves...
1: E3486 5-packs
---->(8; 63 left to account for) Wave 1: 3xE4136 Sugar Shocks, 3xE4137 Toilet Troop, 2xE4138 Techie Team
---->(4; 59 left to account for) wave unk: 4xE4925 Bakery Bytes
---->(completely unknown) Waves 2-4: ?xE4139 unknown, ?xE4140 Music Mob, ?xE4141 Spoiled Rottens, ?xE4145 Backpack Bunch
2: (58 to account for) E3487 Singles
3: E3494 8-packs
---->(8; 50 to account for) Wave 1: 4xE4143 Greaser Gang, 4xE4144 Jock Squad
---->(completely unknown) Waves 2-4: ?xE4146 Spoiled Rottens, ?xE4147 unknown, ?xE4148 Swag Stylers, ?xE4149, E4150 and E4151 unknowns, ?xE4152 Goo Goo Groupies, [SKU and qty unk] Lawn League
4: (49 to account for) Waves 2-4: E5362 Grand Opening Surprise
If we assume this count is drilling all the way down to different packages, we have 49 to account for, and it's safe to assume each of the Unknown 5- and 8-pack SKU's will have at least two packages. At twelve of those, two per accounts for a further 24, leaving 25 left completely unaccounted.
On the other hand,if we assume 1 "character" equals one SKU, and we know there are 190 or so different bots to collect... we only have twenty known SKU's, leaving 52 to find. With 61 figures in Wave 1, that projects an average of around 43 each in Waves 2-4, and with each case being 24 singles or eight multi-packs, we can expect much reissuing and shortpacking. (Because Hasbro, duh.) Some may not even be available outside specific regions, like how Bakery Bytes are only listed at Hasbro Australia and GOS is only at Amazon Canada, and others may be pain-in-the-arse Store Exclusives. (As if Target didn't suck enough with that cutesy stunt they pulled with the JW Spinosaurus last year...)
They have Bot Bot 5 packs in UK ASDA stores now - just 'to cute' I'm not buying any till after toyfair though in case there is some giftset or repacks in the mall playset in case I need to ""recalculate". Looking forward to getting them though - and I'm going to buy the lot as soon as I have that info I want - which hopefully Toyfair will supply - if it doesn't I'll be a tad irked.
Just dumping this note here, UPC on the Grand Opening Surprise is 630509823345.
That's not right, according to Hasbro's site there will be 3 (mass release) series for 2019. Series 1 now, Series 2 in the middle of the year, Series 3 at the end, probably early holiday season.
Anyway, if we assume 72 packages thread over three waves, that would make Waves 2 and 3 a little bigger, averaging around 65 figures and 27ish product packs (counting each of say the four different Greaser 8-packs as a different item) per remaining wave. My gut is if we see something big--Grand Opening Surprise's box is around a foot square and an inch and a half thick--it'll probably be around Christmas.
Working the numbers... Out of 190, from Beastbot X's post...
61 Wave 1 (running total 61/190)
32 from the large group-cartoon (running total 93/190)

5 Greaser Gang redecoes: Angry Cheese, Spud Muffin, Shredder Jack, Duderoni, Fottle Barts
2 Jock Squad redecoes: Batsby, Laceface
1 Sugar Shocks redeco: Lolly Licks
2 Techie Team redecoes: Chilla Gorilla, S.A. Cheez
4 Toilet Troop redecoes: Poo Sham, King Toots, Sgt Scrubadub, Sudsbeard
5 identified new sculpts: Tennis Ball, Tuna Can/fishbot, Soccer Ball (Lost Bot), ?Chess Piece, Piano

1 Shed Heads redeco: Cuddletooth
2 Toilet Troop redecoes: Stinkosaurus Rex, Sudsbeard
2 identified new sculpts/retools: rolling pin, mixer
1 from Other Sources (running total 101/190)
After ID'ing 101, that leaves us 89 more to figure out.
So Sudsbeard has 3 colours then. red, blue and white ?
I was thinking they'd do a seasonal gift assortment - with things like Valentines, Easter eggs, Christmas presents etc.. That seems to fit the themes. If they did a robotic Christmas tree that would remind me of Doctor Who.
I wonder what the largest real world item shown yet is ? Something like the Lap top of the Electronic Piano might be the biggest ones - I wonder if they mass shift ? or is it just a toy keyboard not a full size one. Though I guess the Chainsaw would be pretty big too.
