SWEET just nabbed all of the Series 5 5-packs with golds in them from eBay for a seller who was selling them for just barely more than cost. Within a week I'll only need the Series 5 singles and I'll be set with Botbots 'till August. GIMME DAT GOLDIE TERRORTWIRL

(And yes, will be putting up more extras in the Sales thread when I get them.)

And now that everything has died down from all the opening of packs and Toyfair madness, I finally have time to do the:

    Series 5 Rarity List!

For those interested, here's the Rarity List for Series 4: BotBots Appreciation Thread
And for Series 3: BotBots Appreciation Thread
And for Series 2: BotBots Appreciation Thread
And for Series 1: BotBots Appreciation Thread

Compared with Series 1-3, the rarity stars are a bit more accurate, and one thing is correct-- all Gold Botbots are indeed in one pack. However, the rarity of some non-Gold Botbots has been "downgraded" to make the Gold Botbots seem more desirable, and so some on the checklist are still incorrect.

This list can help particularly for trades, to determine your Botbots' relative "worth", or to help you pick out the best multipack for you if you don't have the full selection at your store. So, I'll be breaking up the Botbots according to how many different packs they appear in:

My Targets still have series 1 + 2 stuff dead stocked so I can't imagine when we'll get series 4 singles.

I wonder if the same transformative energon wave that created the Bot Bots also created the Beast Saga / Battle Beast Tribes ?

More horrific would be if the energon transmuted a living animal... imagine just swimming minding your own business and suddenly finding your body being torn apart by this new robot formed inside you like some kind of robo-xenomorph.

Actually completely unrelated, but I just got in my Series 4 singles, so now I have the full wave +1 (I got regular Hiptoast and the 8-pack exclusive "Hippeatoast" pea-green variant), so I can give my Top 5, Bottom 5, and "Most Improved":

    Top 5:
    1. Dr. Flaskenstein.
As if there was any doubt by now. Ingenious transformation, solid alt mode, robot mode full of character-- I LOVE how the lower beaker halves flip upside down and around to become the "lab coat". If it wasn't for the inability of the alt mode to tab together, this would overtake Ollie Byte/Pixelfin as my favorite Botbot mold period; as is it's a close second.
    2. Critically Complained. Great-looking in both modes, and everything goes somewhere or has some overall purpose; even having small "shoulder pads" come out of the sides of the head is completely unexpected but greatly appreciated. Love the "gun hand" made out of the eye lens, and the reels make for a nice backpack. Just an incredibly solid toy.
    3. Pressure Punk. Another solid and incredibly unique Botbot. Very good alt mode, very characterful robot mode. I love the steampunk face and the "ring" antennae.
    4. Lunchador. Tamale mode may have a little trouble fitting together, but it still looks good, and having a tamale become a Mexican wrestler is just inspired. Just a fun toy.
    5. The Great Mumbo Bumblo. I'll be honest, toy-wise this Botbot is merely average; beyond the ears the actual rabbit is just mostly molded onto the back inside of the hat, and the feet are kind of awkward (love the side thrusters, though, and the alt mode is solid). But a rabbit-to-top-hat Transformer is just so incredibly inspired, it had to make the Top 5 list. Even my older brother, who really doesn't get the draw of Botbots at all and only tends to like more traditional Transformers, when I showed him this one he said, "Okay, that's pretty frigging awesome".

    Bottom 5:
    1. Starscope.
This is just... not enough of a transformation for me. Rotate the head details in and then slide out an arm? C'mon, at least split the stand into legs or something. This one just seems lazy to me.
    2. Doc Kit. Hasbro, if you're going to keep using this mold, could you PLEASE fix the head already?! It's so annoying having to strain pulling up on this thing just so I can see the mouth. The ridiculously thick hands and its difficulty in standing up also are big marks against it as well.
    3. Peels the Monkey. Man, this has to be one of the most disappointing Botbots ever. A banana-to-monkey toy is INGENIOUS and Hasbro got it so wrong, yet so close to so right. The arms seriously can't even come apart enough to show the entire body, much less have any useful articulation, and the legs aren't much better. If there had been another mid-arm and mid-leg segment for each appendage compressed in there, this would have been so fun to pose running and leaping over things like in his art, but nope. He can barely move at all and is just frustrating. Solid banana mode, however.
    4. Heat Freak. I don't mind "alt mode standing up" given the size of Botbots, but having just a ludicrously big head with little arms and legs on the side-- and the entire top two-thirds of the robot essentially a big forehead-- just doesn't work for me. Great alt mode, but more needed to be done for the robot mode.
    5. Grandma Crinkles. Arms are sooo awkward. They really should've just had the wrappers fold out into the arms instead of oddly having them slide out of her face like arm-ears. Again though, great alt mode.

    Most Improved: Hiptoast/"Hippeatoast"
(compared to Moldwich, PB Junior, Angry Cheese): Although color-wise Moldwich is still the best-looking version of this mold IMO, this mold has had some issues with the arms falling off their ball joints VERY easily. I think it's because of the slight amount of paint on the ball joints this time around, but on both variants of Hiptoast this issue is fixed-- no more arms falling off!

Mr. Memory Banks! He’s so freakin’ adorable.

On the subject of looks and personality, some of these faces have some great stories to tell.

Thanks to Beastbot for sending him/her to me. So is he the benevolent spiritual mentor and adviser, or is he the charismatic charlatan that Duderoni spends the entire episode screaming about what a hack he is while everyone else falls prey to his beguiling charm?
I dunno, man. But I wanna watch that show, either way.
