So wait that’s legit? I’m surprised she said yes to a video game movie. She’s an amazing actress but she’s to old. As of BL3 I assume Lilith is in her mid 30’s.

These days they can cgi her younger if they desire (Maybe that's why she took it)

I don't see the point of deaging an actor for a role even if they are academy award winners. Actors are a dime a dozen.

I fucking love Kat Blanchett, but this is terrible casting. She doesn’t look, sound, or feel like the character at all.

Also, why make a Borderlands movie? The games have about as much plot as spot I and don’t exactly hide that considering how tongue-in-cheek they are, and the humour is about ten years out of date. After 3 was a complete fart you’d think the series would be out of steam.

Worst fears confirmed. She's waaaaaayyyy too old for this part in terms of looks (would have been fantastic when she was younger). Unless they're going for a different post-Borderlands 3 story and Lilith returns as a middle-aged siren.

The story isn’t tied into the games. Roland is on the movie too and played by Kevin Hart. From the start it didn’t really sound like Borderlands.

Ok, so we're just going to have middle-aged Vault-Hunters running around in an adapted story? Yay?

Ah yay, another Halo level thing where the writers ignored the source material because their idea is better. Can't wait for another gaming flop lol.

It's a repeated pattern, and will end with them wondering how the project failed and then blaming troll fans for daring to want something closer to the source material and complaining about the changes they made.

We made major changes to the characters and stories, why are people complaining? We made it better than the crap game this is based on. What do you mean people prefer that crappy game?

And it genuinely makes no goddamn sense why they keep doing shit like Halo, when they have proven and shown that when you do stick to the awesome story everyone loves like the Last of Us and Arcane, surprise surprise you get a good TV show and massive support.

They can do it, but they are egotistical assholes who think their shitty story is better than than the source material. My God, don't even make me bring Velma or Resident Evil into this. It's so obvious they want to create their own shitty show, but only if they use a certain IP, so they just force the IP to be their shitty idea and have nothing to do with the IP

The only thing that gives me hope is the movie is written by Craig Mazin. His adaptation of The Last of Us has been pretty good and accurate. He is a game nerd. Something the Halo writers weren’t.

Typically the story is written by the writer, then they hire the director based on the script, then the director has rewrites done so it meets their ideas, but the original writer will still get credit unless the story is completely changed, or the new script is so bad they ask to have their name removed(Which has happened a few times)

True, I’m convinced that most video game adaptations can’t happen within the time of a movie unless it’s simple like Mario.

I'd rather have lazy voice work that is okay, than some of the shitty scripts and shows we have been getting. Is it perfect no, but this so far looks like an actual mario movie and the plot seems like a mario movie which is more than I can say for other movie adaptation of games. Plus the first time they tried was pretty bad, so the thing to remember is that is their second time trying to make a mario movie.

That’s not my point. I’m talking about story alone. I said Mario because 1. It’s the most famous video game franchise of all time and 2. The plot 90% of the time is stop Bowser and save the Kingdom / World / Galaxy. Over compacting something like Borderlands or Red Dead Redemption, 30 hour stories into 2 hours.

Honestly, though, Borderlands is a two hour story stretched into 20 hours by fetch quests and boss hunts.

I need a trailer or something before I write this whole thing off. A still is simply not enough to condemn an entire production.

Borderlands 1 totally but Borderlands 2 would need more time. Handsome Jack is to good of a villain to give two hours of movie to. Seeing how it’s not a direct adaptation it doesn’t matter anyways.
