Transformers FOC Generations 2 Bruticus with X-Transbots Boosticus upgrade set. I'm not sure if I have a defective set, or if this is a wider problem, but I paid like $60 for this, and I expected a better product. That being said; let's move on. FOC Bruticus on his own was floppy. Fun, but floppy. With the Boosticus set, Bruticus is still floppy, but he's prettier now. All of the parts can be combined in two ways; one as Bruticus' parts, and two, as a flatbed for Onslaught. The flat bed assembled well enough until I got to the wheels....they did NOT peg in at all, and I tried several times. The best I could do was kind of slide them on, and hoped that gravity wouldn't take over and collapse them. Assembling the Boosticus parts; Adding the feet onto the Swindle, and Brawl were easy enough. I ended up breaking a small tab on Swindle, but it was not a direct cause of the Boosticus set, just my own clumsiness. Plus the damage was insignificant. Adding the hands onto to Blastoff was easy, and adding the wrist onto Vortex was tricky, but doable. So far, so good. Adding the body armor onto Onslaught was also a piece of cake. However, adding the backpack, and the guns onto Bruticus' back....problematic at best. The wheels peg into the guns, and the guns peg into the backpack, and the backpack pegs into Bruticus' back.....or at least it's supposed to... I tried for an hour to peg the gun assembly into Bruticus' back and did NOT happen. Again the best I could do was to slide it on, and hope that gravity didn't take hold, but gravity won most of the time. I'm really surprised that I was able to take some pics of Bruticus with the guns attached as long as I did before they fell off. Eventually I had to switched the guns on his back to the one in his hand. Over all, I WANT to like the Boosticus upgrade, but I have to say; buyer beware of this product. Some parts of it work, and others do not. As of this date, I have contacted BBTS and asked for an exchange, and I have also contacted the initial creator of the set, and told him of the defect. So far no replys from either, but it's only been 2hrs on a Saturday night, so that's understandable. So I just wanted to share with you my thought on this set. I'm really disapointed by this, bc I was looking forward to this piece. BTW when this set actually cooperates Bruticus looks fantastic! But you know it's defective, or at least mine is.
Seeing as there's a feedback thread for it, and it's been out for months now with people generally not reporting this, don't you think you might have gotten a lemon?
As it turns out, mine was a lemon. Fortunately, with the right sized allen wrench I managed to widen the peg holes, and now the backpack slid right in, and actually stays where it's supposed to. Much happier with this set now.
