Looks like saving Ted is showing some unexpected ramifications. What a crazy issue. The world is now ruled by OMACs. Lots of heroes are dead including Kyle Rayner, Black Canary, Nightwing, Hawkgirl, Cyborg, Black Lightning, Dr. Mid-nite and more. Also Superman is Max Lord's weapon again, back under mind control. Luckily Green Arrow and Hawkman are still alive and save Booster and Ted. The future Beetle, aka Black Beetle is now in League with Booster's Dad, who has villainous plans brewing with the Ultra humanite, Per Degaton and Despero to steal back time.
i love this book...not exactly sure where this arc is headed, but i freaking love it...i hope they find a way to resolve the time issue without killing ted again...
I have a theory: Maybe the Black beetle is Future Ted (Like I suggested before) and he is working along with the villains to thwart their plans in the end. Maybe it will be a noble sacrifice type thing.
oh maybe man...that'd be really cool...i do hope the black beetle betrays the baddies, regardless of who he is. still love this book though, its so cool...my only problem with it is that it only comes out once a month...
That would be great, but this has the stink of "temporary resurrection" all over it. If Ted makes it out of this alive, I will be incredibly surprised. Delighted, but surprised. This was a good issue, though. It was really fun to see a lot of references to the old Justice League Europe, which is a book that's been sadly forgotten in recent years. It was especially cool to see Catherine Colbert again (even if they did misspell her last name). I'm really nervous about what's going to happen to this comic when Johns and Katz leave it. It's one of my favorite DC titles right now and I don't want it to go downhill any time soon.
are they leaving soon? please tell me no...that would really crush me... and dude, your sig is one of the best on the boards...i've always thought it was just hilarious...
what...leaving after 12...crap...i'm gonna be so pissed...i hate when writers have short runs (ie anything less then 24 issues) there's so much good story here he could tell..i wonder who will pick it up..and if i will continue to pick it up...
Well, Johns said right out of the gate that he was only going to be on the book for a short while. The fact that his co-writer is also leaving is what makes me a little nervous (although, come to think of it, John Rogers is getting a new assignment around the same time. Rogers on Booster Gold... now that could be a fun comic).
i dont know who that is, but i'll take your word for it...im very interested to see whats gonna happen with this book...has the solicitation for 13 come out yet?
they usually only go 2 months in advance. So the very furthest we will see is issue 10 at this point. Finally got my issue today and this seriously is one of the best books out. It just keeps the guessing and excitment. And I love how Rip reveals the girl is going to be the kid's wife and the kid's face is just priceless.
dude...that typo (on eof) just confused the piss outta me for about a minute...i just couldnt figure out what is said...and yeah, i love future story things that have little 'oh btw this happens' moments...its great..
I'm enjoying this arc, I have to say I never really read either of Booster's or Ted's original series, I read them in JLI days, but picked up the new series on the back of what happened with Booster in 52 and it sounded an interesting premise. If Ted does die again, it will be a heroic way, realising that he has to die for the future to be safe. The ultimate heroic act, knowing your death will help eventually save the world
I loved this issue! All the JLI stuff was great. From the embassy right down to the cat. Spoiler: Catherine was Max Lord's plant all along! Fantastic!
I don't think she was always a plant, just that she's one of the many people in this version of history who's also an OMAC. Max Lord turning out to be evil was already hugely out of character, Catherine Colbert voluntarily being an OMAC is just completely unbelievable. But yeah, it was really great to see a lot of references to the JLE.
Oh, but that's certainly the way it seemed to be set up. She was on Max's payroll from the beginning, she was the one that sent out the distress call that led Booster and Beetle there, and she was voluntarily OMAC'd.
