I've been thinking a bit lately about how different Optimus is in AoE. I am wondering if they told the great Mr. Peter Cullen that yes, Optimus is going to be in a very dark place in this movie and he would be doing and saying things that haven't really been done with the character before but in the next movie they were planning on redeeming him and bringing him back to the character we all know and love. Yes, everyone loves Optimus Prime! It did seem like he had started on his journey of redemption at the end when he told the creators to leave planet Earth alone...
Here's the actual video of the interview: Lorenzo di Bonaventura on Transformers: Age of Extinction, Sequels, Dinobots and More The discussion of the Dinobots coming from the Extinction event at the beginning of the film doesn't really make sense, given what we actually got. You really feel like something was dropped in production. Also, the interview is pretty much confirmation that the team doesn't think up their story in advance. They basically leave it up to their poor writers to make all the ideas they pitch work. And a final note, I loved the nods to the Transformers team at Hasbro being huge collectors and fanboys. That's awesome.
That article seems to confirm that the "Creators" are the Quints and we will learn more about them in the next movie. Hopefully the Dinobots come back and more is learned about them as well.
If you watch the interview though, Lorenzo never actually mentioned the Quints though. It seems like that was more an elaboration by the author. Unless the video was cut off before it was mentioned, or it was discussed off-camera.
So 400 million domestically apparently guarantees a sequel according to the article. I guess Paramount must of set their target box office numbers a bit lower since it was a soft reboot.
Well, I took this part of the article and based my comment on that: "For those not familiar with the Transformers mythology, there is an entire backstory to how the race of robots was created by a species named the Quintessons. They were originally introduced in the original 80s animated series following the release of Transformers: The Movie. This piece of history and more is what the next film will focus on." I didn't watch the video though so I could be interpreting it wrong. You could very well be right.
