I think the comparison posts need to lessen. It’s the same conversation over and over now that SS has been revealed. Some people think one or the other looks bad or is too expensive or whatever and it’s silly cause price DOES matter but not if you have the money or like one or the other. It’s not fair or useful to compare the two anymore. One is cheaper and maybe less good in some ways, one is more expensive but has some bells and whistles and looks premium. We all should know that at this point.

I personally think that there are those in this thread that are just against this thing existing and are reaching. Also there is a healthy dose of "Well Actually ..." going on.

Yeah we get it. It's expensive.

Why not go on any of the other third party combiners and call them all expensive because you can still get Combiner Wars/Titans Return/Siege limbs cheaper? Is it just because it's a Bayverse combiner?

I would if someone stupidly kept comparing something like an FT menasor to a CW menasor. It’s ridiculous to compare them and hold them to the same standards when they have massively different prices, budgets, and purposes. I’m honestly kinda surprised at the responses simply not understanding this and somehow thinking bringing up a price difference is hating on the figure or completely pointless.

For me personally, I just feel like the justification for the price isn't really there. It looks nice enough, but I'm disappointed in a few of the aspects. Scavenger is my favorite Constructicon design, but he really looks pathetic here in robot mode.

I think you’re shopping in the wrong places.
    Show Z prices below-
    Giant Axe- $120.99
    Split- $104.99
    Compresor- $93.49
    Landslip- $78.49
    Smash- $78.49
    Sweeping- $77.99

Or ever so slightly less with the double discount deal.

Still, Giant Axe as the most expensive and largest one is also the biggest let down- so far. The bot mode just can’t escape criticism for those tiny wheels regardless of anything else it does well.
Slightly undersized would be understandable but they’re about 50% too small and that issue is then compounded because the entire figure is too small and so close to the SS scale.

But still- the combined mode ain’t looking half bad. However, I feel like DS should drop the price on this one before release to make it more palatable.

Wasn't Giant Axe supposed to have built-in missile pods and pipes?

I'm perfectly fine with the SS figures because I am okay with them looking and being what they are for the money (still too pricey actually) and whoever gets these devil saviour bots look to definitely be getting much better version RE paint, overall looks, engineering possibly (one can argue simpler and more robust is more fun than highly complex and perhaps fragile, but that's subjective). If you collect these, I feel you really are more keen on having the ultimate versions of these kinda bots. I'm okay with simpler versions which I actually don't care about combined mode as much as I care about the individual figures looking freaky and creepy. There shouldn't be any need to argue about the 2 lines, one is obviously better than the other (not necessarily accounting for strength or simplicity in transformation, hopefully the devil bots stand both the test of time and eventually combined mode form), and the costs seem generally right at least regarding why one is so much more than the other.
To me, the SS versions are the right amount of investment I want to have overall with these types of figures. No reason why super versions can't exist for people who want to get the best and closest show iterations as well.

Well, that is what customs and customizing are for!

(The ending of your quote, "for people who want to get the best and closest show iterations as well.")

Don’t have to be new to the 3p game to say they don’t look like the price.

Oh I was referring to these devil figs. I guess if that's still not accurate enough people who are good can customize. I suck at that stuff so I don't even try haha.

I do think that these are a little too expensive as MM went for 150-160 Cad before shipping. That's kinda nuts imo.

But they do "look" the price. Their size, paint, part count, and plastic quality is average for 3P, especially compared to a 50 dollar leader figure that's about the same size, has less paint a d less parts count.

Not sure what price you were hoping for.

I’m just saying whether something looks the price is completely subjective. Much like how people can’t argue “my color is better than yours and that’s a fact”. Like to me the paint on them doesn’t add much as I could mimick it fairly closely on my own, and the sculpt needs a lot of work. But that’s my opinion, and not fact.

If I've got the money and the time, I might try a custom version of Devastator that uses both SS (hopefully OS) and DS so that I can have more accurate scale.

Yeah- it's much easier (fun even) to fix crappy paint, than it is to fix a crappy design, so I'll always prefer when the design is the focus

(UT is an example of this- minimal paint on great designs)
