ROTF Devastator is my favorite design the big guy has ever gotten. Thats why I like the set. I just love the design. As for how many members he has, I like to say 10.

Mixmaster - Neck (I think the head is from Scavenger as it is red and white instead of gray
Scavenger - Upper torso and (possibly) head
Overload - Lower torso/waist
Scrapper - Right arm
Scrapmetal - Left upper arm (Some say he isn't the upper arm but his treads appear on the CGI model above Hightower's treads)
Hightower - Left forearm
Unknown bulldozer/Buckethead - Left hand
Long Haul - Right leg and foot
Unknown dump truck/Payload - Left thigh
Skipjack - Left shin and foot

And then there are the "substitutes" in case of emergency

Rampage - Substitute for Skipjack
Demolishor - Substitute for Scavenger

That's just what I think but it seems to be a fairly popular theory.

Side note: I know that no one asked but I am currently building a ROTF Devastator out of LEGO. He has 6 members built so far, 4 more on the way and an original character, named Mudshovel, that can be a substitute for Skipjack if needed

Both sets have their ups and downs. The SS set is much easier to transform and thus better for play, but I wish they came with more accessories so I didn't have to buy that 3rd party kit. Also, a little disappointing that the combined SS Devastator doesn't have the necessary articulation to lift its arms over its own head.

as for the DS series, much more versatile, and I love how many accessories they come with, but the QC issues throughout the set have been very disappointing considering their price. Overall, which one is better largely depends on what you're looking for; a fun toy to play with or a nice display piece.

 

Yeah,that's how I thought in the first place.some SS members were even more tempting to me than the DSs did.But its combine mode lack of posability and look way "skinny" were main reason pushed my out of this set.I wonder why they won't be able to make it chunker,even 2 times as its original price should have just made me jumped into this ride.

Only messed with the vehicle mode so far cause I gotta get back to the office but the details are incredible, the size and weight are good. Very excited to transform later! Also, is the little stick thing in the middle supposed to be up for vehicle mode?

Very curious about the improvements

 

I love this thing! It’s a very simplistic and intuitive transformation, but both robot and vehicle modes look fantastic. If you’re thinking about dipping into this line, definitely start here!

Try the leg mode. Transformation is quite involving but the end result is just great.

 

Speaking of being erect, FINALLY POGO MAN IS MINE AND I LOVE HIM. Only thing is I wish there was a bit more tail articulation, and I plan to add some flat black to some areas including the face.

 

Did DS ever confirm that the defective crotch pieces will be fixed in the reissued ds-03?

 

Finally opened my Split and he's pretty enjoyable. Haven been to each mode once and then back to bot. Only problems are his hips don't want to stay pegged in so he does the splits and the cab tab to the back isn't very secure. I don't think my cab was all the way on the mushroom peg when I opened it because it wasn't centered so I took it off the peg and put it back on to fix that. Any tips for the legs to get the hips to stay pegged in?

 

Not sure. They haven't fixed much with Split 2nd batch when it comes to qc...
But there are replacement parts included with DS-07

Stuff like floor polish/kiki/super glue on the joints can always help

 

Added black to Sweeping's face. What do you guys think? I'm gonna add some more panel lining and some black and maybe some small touches of bright silver. These figures really don't need much paint! I love this guy but damn I wish he was red...

 

There was a post a few pages back that suggests tightening the screw on the leg that is nearest to the hip/crotch.
