I like how he points out that while SS Long Haul is more proportionally accurate in robot mode, it only nails the robot mode. Smash sacrifices the absolute chonk of the robot mode for a better combined mode, which is in line with the theme of this set. Personally, I'm less worried about accuracy than simply looking cool, so I'm satisfied.

 

Ok way better than Split in most ways and hey ratcheted shoulders on Long Haul i hope these continues with the rest of the team. On a side note the manual shows that Scrapper is next so i guess their optimizing Scavenger better because we already saw a review of him a couple months back and he looks as bad as Split.

Weird, while I enjoy PvP's reviews, I don't trust his overall views since he tends to say something completely different in his ranking reviews, like those he does for the Studio Series. With that said, his points tend to sound very biased for this figure. I mean it looks like a massive improvement from Split, but the robot and vehicle look way off. The vehicle does not look accurate to the movie, and that flimsy looking dump container looks off compared to the beefy looking truck. The robot mode, as others have pointed out, is just a stretched out 2009 Voyager but with better paint. But I think the unfair thing to do is compare the SS with this as one is a mass produced toy compared to a more fine tuned adult collectable.

 

Is there any hard news on when the next one will be released?

 

Yeah I like PvP but he kept going on about how Smash is way more accurate and that's just not true at all. If you like the figure more that's one thing but more accurate it simply is not.

 

He lost me when he said that there were "no visible robot parts in combined mode".. Although you can clearly see the chest and his arms (especially his folded hands) streched out at the front of the foot

 

My boss just informed me to fill the payment of DS04,and it would be sent to my on 08/04.

 

So my Split also has the issue with the tab on the back, that won't fit into the hole on the underside of the truck cab. I've shaved it down a bit but it didn't work all that well. Has there been any word from the manufacturer about a replacement piece? By the looks of it, it's just a small piece that needs replacing, half of the drum filling funnel. 2 screws and a pin that the cannon is hinging on.

 

I widened the peghole instead of trimming the peg and it fit like a glow. I generally don't shave peg because it may cause problems in other modes.

Well ‘nailing’ could mean a number of things. Smash’ robot mode has a lot going for it; accurate proportions just aren’t on that list but it still looks good, has playability, poseability, decent joints, detailing and paint, well managed kibble etc.

 

Not sure how "nails the look" could be taken any differently.

And that's not to say that I don't like Smash, because I absolutely do. And I like it better than the SS version, especially in bot mode, even though it's not screen accurate.
