Im really impressed with how the transformation has a good balance of being fun vs being totally accurate.

After giving up on finding the official SS 102, I opted for Black Mamba. I got mine a couple week ago. Thanks to this thread, I was prepared for tight joints, which they indeed were. The front wheel hinges, hip joints and wrist swivel joints were the most stuck. I sprayed some plastic safe lubricant on them and slowly worked them free. Everything is good now. He's glorious. The over quality feels great. The gunmetal paint they added to all of the gray areas really makes it look so much more premium than the official one. While the bed is still a mess, he is fun to transform. I like him so much I ordered a second one to keep on my desk at work. Thankful for these KO companies, since Hasbro decided they didn't want our money.

What does the paint rub look like on this guy? Does it hold up? I'm thinking of getting one but I'm afraid it'd be a waste if the paint eventually rubs off.

The crotch and skirt is now silver/grey plastic right? I want to turn this into BB Optimus (at least color wise) and thinking of stripping the silver on the sun visors and yellow on the skirts.

Funnily enough both BB and ROTB Optimus doesn't have yellow in the skirts and both SS38/102 inaccurately has it painted.

Hips skirts are light grey plastic painted silver. However the front of the crotch on the KO is actually metal from what I can tell.

The amount of sanding I did on joints to unstiffen the figure would suggest you shouldnt have to worry.

I think I can speak for everyone that already has this figure that it is legit in terms of quality, and if you're just coming into this thread and thinking about this figure, you should go for it and you won't be disappointed.

The very first review I looked at on aliexpress was of one where the arm broke clean off at the shoulder.

I think there's something to be said for the input from a bunch of collectors on a forum where they share do's and don'ts versus an online marketplace review.

It's a figure so nice, I bought it twice.

    upload_2023-11-12_3-2-17.jpeg

Out of the box, I noticed this second copy's joints (particularity the hip and wrist swivels) are snug but not so stiff they felt like they would break. Everything freed up without the need for heat or lubrication.

Since this figure is basically a non-oversized copy of SS-102, would it be correct to assume that the DK-44 Upgrade Kit for Buzzworthy Bumblebee SS-102 could fit on it?

I believe so. The only real changes are:
    - Silver paint
    - No insigina
    - Eyes on the head are not as defined so they are hard to see.
    - Diecast crotch
    - Screws instead of pins in some spots.
    - Gaps in hubcaps filled.

No. Coconut oil will go rancid.

Use a silicone oil that is thin so that it can wick into small spaces in the joints and hinges. I recommend Traxxas 20 wt.

Has there been any indication of a Nemesis Prime or SG Prime repaint of this figure?

Mine had one shoulder that was stupidly tight out of the box, and both thigh swivels were too tight. I just hit them all with some silicone O-ring grease and worked it into the joints, now it’s fine. It’s a really nice figure, especially for the price of a deluxe.

The metal crotch is kind of a head scratcher though, why that and not the feet?
