The head is small, but that actually makes his proportions better. HasTak commonly makes heads too big. Made a few minor alterations that are barely noticeable. The kanji on the swords was the hardest part of this. If you use the Unicron head like I did, make sure you sand down the sides of his red necklace so it's as narrow as the platform you attach it to or you will have awful problems soon after.
Yeah, sometimes I wonder why customizers don't do the most obvious customs. Like Roadbuster's head on Roadbuster Magnus' body... (just did this).
I love the kanji... the pose-ability of the figure really helps bring it out too with how fluidly he could wield it... Nice job
Any chance of a small tutorial, like how you attached the new head? ? I'm also trying to not destroy the original Unicron head when removing it. It looks like I'll need a soldering gun to remove it from the dish...
Oh yeah, I can help you out a bit. I just knocked out the pin and used the dish and the head. The dish makes a good necklace and transitions the head into a bigger body really well. So, I don't know how to remove it from the dish, I'd probably just carve away the dish. You can remove Bludgeon's head by turning his head 45 degrees and using a small screw driver and turning it around 180 and removing the other screw. Easy and only a little paint wear! I then used a sanding drum dremel piece and sanded out the inside of Bludgeon's chest to widen the hole and clear out obstructions. You have to sand the sides of Unicron's necklace/dish so that it's no wider than the neck platform you're going to implant it on. If it's wider, the necklace/dish will not fit inside Bludgeon's super narrow abs when you collapse the head for transformation. I used Aves Fixit Sculpt to attach the head to the neck column and I did it at a downward angle instead of straight on because it looks more dynamic. It shouldn't take more than half an hour. It was really frustrating for me because I kept trying to get it to work without narrowing the necklace/dish and the head would keep coming off when I test transformed it. It wouldn't be too hard to remove the dish, cut the metal rod with wire cutters, and use a ball joint neck instead.
Can he still transform into his vehicle mode with that new head? Do I have to make certain alterations/modifications for that?
Nice... ! Yeah, amazing we haven't seen this already! I generally like the small-head aesthetic, though in this case, it's maybe a bit extreme. Whatever... it helps echo the whole "outer shell" vibe of the original Pretender. Nice pics too... damn Bludgeon's a nice piece of work. Too bad he ONLY really works as Bludgeon. Not a lot of repaint potential (and yes, that includes Banzaitron too!). zmog
Fuck repaint potential... Bludgeon deserves his own mold. Hell, he at least deserved a repaint of Cybertron Unicron 5 or 6 years ago.
Haha! True! It's just that Bludgeon is such a sweet figure, and I keep seeing him on liquidation in the stores, but I can't justify buying more for kitbashing or parts, because I just can't see the mold fitting as any other character. He's just too distinctive! zmog
Made his turret removable so he could use it as a handcannon, but it looked really crappy. Gave him a paint wash, looks good.
