God I hated the Gen 1 toy of "Blot". He had zero pose-ability, no style and a tiny tiny head, this poor, human eating idiot needed redemption. I used three shades of purple steel on the arms. Two shades of dark/navy blue and guards red for the eye piece. Neon Green Lacquer for the ooze! I opened up his chest cavity and detailed the crap out of it! I never even realized there is a tiny man trapped inside his chest! seriously! Why would the Vertebreak figure I used for the base have that??!! Speaking of his chest cavity, the lower jaw now locks in between the chest plates. I removed about 3 cm of plastic from the shoulders, otherwise he couldn't move his arms out all the way. I chopped up the original alt head and refashioned the new one from his old shoulder pads. I was going to add a tongue but it ended up looking like Venom and Robocop had an illegitimate child together. I molded the rear of the head to have a skin-like stretch to it, I wanted him to be as unpleasant as possible, while still looking nice, almost like an Orca whale. I Added ooze to joints and gears, I thought about adding stink lines but figured it would look odd. Made the Slime launcher out of leftover Revell Apache AH64 parts. while still allowing it to stow away on his lower back or vertical against his spine. I Removed his upper paws and left the claw/hands instead for both modes. whew! he was tiring! How did I do? [ (Disclaimer; No humans were harmed in the making of this thread, or will be shown being eaten although a nearby squirrel did catch hay fever and sneezed violently)
This is awesome!! I have a spare Vertebreak and now have some inspiration as to what I should do with him!! Outstanding job! Love the little details, like the slime and the interior work to the chest cavity. Well done!
Thank you thank you!! I'm on my way to the Denver comic con right now but I'll post some more bot and back pics tonight =)
Oh yeah, that's awesome. Love the back shot. That head looks perfectly slimy and gross; great job with the "pulled skin" look of it. Really sells just how repulsive Blot is. Again, outstanding work here. Can't want to see what you come up with for the other Terrorcons.
Awesome job. I love the texture used in your paints. Nice dry-brush effects all over the body. The leaking green in spots, like he is bleeding, adds to the horrific look. I also love the use of yellow. Yellow is a color that is hard to get rich and smooth color out of and yours is practically factory. Before the KO came out with the oversized terrorcons, I bought all of the figures/parts to do a Prime Predacons -> Abominus set. We have some similar ideas. Now, I'm just going to mod/paint the KO ovesized legends. Originally, I was going to do Blot (like this), Sinnertwin out of Ripclaw (no wings), and use two Sky lynx's for the arm bots, given his waist+leg articulation for poseable elbows (one into Rippersnapper and one into Razorwing).
Thanks man! When I make another terrorcon I'll make the head from scratch so I can have more to work with, as it stands, the robot mode is just kinda there for the sake of being called a transformer. Its the monster that we all wanna play with =)
