Looks like we're at about 2.5 feet here. The wind is blowing so hard the front door to my building keeps blowing open, and I've got a huge pile of snow in front of my apartment door now. Here's an image showing the snow build up right where it hits my door:
Between the snowfall (at least 2') and the wind there's somewhere around three feet of snow on my front step. (About halfway between NYC and Boston)
I forgot if this happened back in January or this past December but here goes. This was taken from my balcony where I normally smoke. Around 6:30 am Around maybe 12:00 pm Around maybe 7:00 pm Yeah, it lasted the entire day that day. Don't be fooled by the height, I live in an igloo just like everyone in Canada. Those houses are fake.
guys, we can't open the door. I can hear one of my neighbor's banging something to try and get out. D: I'll take pics later but, the snow is the same height as the car hood. I don't know how tall that is.
I have about 20-24 inches in Fairfield county CT, I am going to dig out and then go snowshoeing and take my daughter sleeding
Wow, the amount of snow all of you in the northeast are getting is crazy. Here in the frozen tundra of Minnesota we're supposed to get a blizzard Sunday. The original forecast was 6-10 inches, but it was downgraded to 4-6, but sleet at the start of the storm. I'd rather get all snow, and more of it, then sleet.
Thank god I don't have to worry about plowing. The apartment lot is taken care of, West Lake Drive is a school route so that's also taken care of, and Highway 372 / Berlin Road - my lifeline to a Stop 'n' Shop - is also taken care of.
The snow goes up to my waist (I'm five feet two inches). Could only open the door enough to shovel the snow in front of it. Had to use the recycling bin to dump the snow. Managed to finish the walk way. Spent about thirty minutes shoveling (talking a break until dc nation is over). The power went out around ten last night. It came back on around nine this morning. Still cant call any of my sisters (phones have to charge). All the best to those dealing with this.
My area of Toronto got 1-3 feet of snow (depending on the direction of the wind). No biggie. It was fun watching the drivers swerve and get stuck in the un-shoveled area on my street. No land line phone? For those who have more snow, any plans on making a snow fort?
meanwhile, it's 80 something degrees down here stupid florida and your heat and no snow anyways, i hope you and your families are all okay. i know it looked pretty bad last night on the news
We ended up with about 29 inches here, most of it falling between 8pm and 2am. The landscapers are standing in the driveway of my condo right now trying to figure out how they're going to get to my front steps to clear them off. There'll be some cocoa waiting if they can make it to my front door.
Yeah...thats a car....in the middle of the intersection of my street....from last night. When it got stuck, the snow was maybe up to 1/4 of the wheels. Edit: Pfft...Snow forts....my kids are already at work on an Undersnow bunker system.
there's only about a foot and a half where I live, but the wind's piling it up pretty high in some spots.
