Okay, so I just got this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120163977494&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123 (actually, my girlfriend bought it for me, she's awesome!) Why does the turret look off?
Doesn't look wrong to me. It can slide forward and back on its joint, so maybe it's in a position that seems out of place?
The barrel also telescopes in and out... so yeah, it's probably just slid forward with the barrel pushed in. At least the turret is present and attached, which is more than I could say for my beat up ol' Blitzwing when I first got him.
Ah, alright. It's been years upon years since I owned a Blitzwing... I just remember him being one of my favorite toys of my childhood, and I have no idea what happened to him (I do remember losing the turret though!)... so when my girlfriend said she'd buy me a Transformer with her income tax return (up to around $50)... well, the Kup/Wheelie reissue was my first thought, but this guy won out. All I have left of my original Blitzwing is one single missile. Odd, considering how small they are. That makes me feel better to know, though. And makes me more excited to get him! I didn't realize his turret was quite so movable! I just hope I... er... we... errr... she didn't get ripped off much.
$58 shipped for a blitzwing is definitely overpriced. However a present from your girlfriend is always priceless
Only thing you've gotta watch out for on originals is to make sure they're not loose as all get out. Whenever I got my first one, the feet were so loose he couldn't stand up. Couldn't tell that from the pictures. After some tinkering and quite a bit of clear nail polish he's tolerable. I ended up getting a second one with an Astrotrain however, and he's actually tighter than the first so he's taken over for display duties
It's not too bad a price for an original with unapplied stickers. And yes, the turret is pushed forward and has the barrel retracted; nothing to worry about.
Yeah, no problem. Finding Blitzwing in a mint shape (especially his feet) is hard. He has alot of parts that use friction, so he's one of the figures that suffer the most from joint wear.
Hey, someone with powers over time and space make it get here faster, then, please? It's getting harder to wait!
Yup. The turret's in robot-mode position there, although the barrel isn't. Apart from the mistransformation, it looks A-OK to me.
Just got it. Feet aren't particularly strong, and the turret's pretty loose. At that price, I'm a little miffed.
Bummer! Loose turret isn't much of a problem, but not so strong feet are a major letdown. I'd harras the seller's ass for this.
I don't blame you at all! However if you can't get any result from the seller, a couple of layers of clear tape will sort out those problems.
That's why I was saying $58 is overpriced, the seller didn't say anything about this is a "mint" piece. And You really can't trust photos like this(I learned my lesson long time ago). Things look good on the photo doesn't necessary look that nice at hand. Several weak points of blitzwing can't be seen on the photo: 1. It's not complete in the picture, missing one missile 2. Seller only put the tank mode picture, so you don't know how it looks like in robot mode. And most importantly, alot of blitzwing have broken(Or stress marks) wing tips, which you can't see in tank mode. 3. The turrent connector is almost always broken(but still usable), it's not suppose to be able to turn 180%, I have 4 blitzwings and they all have this issue. 4. unapplied stickers doesn't mean the figure is a mint piece, if the seller is a tf dealer, he probably just put together the pieces from differen't sources. 5. Seller didn't mention anything about biltzwing's conditions(joints, wear) Like everyone said, the feets are very important for blitzwing
Well, the result is this. I'm happy to have this toy again. My girlfriend is happy to have bought it for me cause it makes me happy. My nitpicks. 1. Turret is a little on the loose side. I can move it around to where it fits tightly, but it's still loose. I can remove it at will, so once I find my screwdriver, I plan to tighten the screw holding the connector piece, which I hope will help. 2. Yeah, feet are kinda loose. 3. I only got 2 missiles with it... but that's okay, I only need the two, and if I lose one, all I have left of the Blitzwing I had when I was younger is... wow, ONE MISSILE. So I'm okay with that. 4. This one is really, really weird. His missile launchers HAVE NO SPRINGS in them. This is a real WTF... I don't know what that's all about. 5. His gun peg is a little loose... it doesn't really have the friction to stay pointed straight in his hand. I have clear nail polish (well, girlfriend does) that should fix that. Again, though... it was overpriced. No doubt now. But I'm happy, it fills a hole in my childhood as far as my collecting goes. I'm happy to have this guy again, my girlfriend is happy that it makes me happy... all's good. He's in otherwise GREAT shape, everything clips together wonderfully, I'm almost worried about loosening the joints where his treads/wings swivel...Though I am REALLY curious about point #4. I have no idea what that means. I had a junker Blitzwing (no turret, no head/cockpit) sent to me as a "bonus"... so I can replace those springs (I'll need to check to see if they're present, I don't know offhand)... any other tips for fixxing this guy up a little? Pretty much the feet, turret, and the fit of his gun are the only loose pieces. I'm okay with this. Not an issue... no stress marks. It turns 360 degrees and gets loose... I need to fiddle to find the tight spots. This seems the case. He has some nice stuff that he's also selling. Like I said above, the feet, turret, and gun are loose. His sword is KINDA loose, but it still holds well.
Be careful when tightening the screw on that connector. I was doing that when I was a kid, and after a 3rd (or was it 4th) tightening, not only did that connector split in half, the spiral in the body was totaly busted. I personaly think, that the turret was meant to be detached for transformation. If you look at it, it's a similar system that the cap for the car radiator uses. I mean, to put it on/tighten it you swivel 90 degrees one way, to take it of 90 degrees other way. You do the same for positioning in robot mode, except when you take the turret off, you rotate the body 180 degrees (if you're tank front is the part with nozzles) and then put the turret on like the radiator cap. I still have Blitzwing from my childhood. The major problems with him are the turret (see above) and the feet. I tried using tape and nail polish, and the feet are still loose. I can't help you here. 4) Mine didn't have springs, so I put pencil springs inside when I was a kid. He's able to shoot pretty far. I had the same situation with G1 Shrapnel. While the figure was nice and not expensive, the shipping was a killer. I payed $10 more than I should have, but I was glad in the end. Money is money, I would have spent it on something else if I haven't bought Shrapnell. My Blitzwing still has his treads/wings swivel joints rather tight after years of "torture", so I think you shouldn't worry about that.
