Honestly? I don't care if they do or don't or who gets it.

The license going to someone else won't stop some fanboys from their RUINED FOREVER cause I DONT LIKE IT.

You do you understand the concept of reviews and feedback, don’t you? It sounds like you subscribe to the Kevin Smith book of “all criticism are from vile trolls who aren’t true fans”.

I watch Clownfish TV daily and whenever IDW is brought up, it’s never in a positive light. Kneon from Clownfish TV used to work at IDW, although not on any Transformers titles. His advice to writers and artists still at IDW is to get the Hell out and run.

I really hope this is just a rumor, the plot of IDW2 has been slow-burn stuff that's started paying off but would be really hard to wrap up that fast.

And the Beast Wars comic? Most BW-feeling material since the show!

The thing is, people claimed that constantly for many years like a broken record, well before IDW1 actually ended. It wasn't exactly a prediction, more constant raining on parades. "Let people enjoy stuff," was often the tone of the backlash you felt.

Like 'it was their last saving throw' - that's 3 years ago now. If that's what it was, it actually worked for a good while.

I don't understand the train of thought of those that like MtmtE or other IDW1 series but think that it would be a good choice changing the publisher because the new main series isn't like IDW comics they liked. Doesn't sound logical to me.
The surest method to prevent good old IDW comics from ever being made again would be a new publisher, because a new publisher will surely not be like old IDW again, because they aren't IDW. It's this current publisher that made those comics so the best chances of getting that back is waiting for new IDW TF series. Even if someone doesn't like the new ongoing (and even if it should never change and become more like whichever older series someone prefers) the tone the of mini-series or parallelly published ongoings is vastly different from the main, including comics like the Technobot special that are even written by the same author.

Chances are high that a new publisher would start from zero, with zero TF related experience and give us some generic episodics that are just "bots babysitting humans and fighting 'Cons" again instead of being something different. And I rather not think about Marvel/Disney getting it. Even if I hated the new comics (which I don't), I would prefer to wait and enjoy the content fans (private ones or official artists) make, buy thirdparty toys and hope for some nice new fanart everytime another obscure character I like appears in the comic over, well, anything remotely Disney related. Plus, I prefer being able to download digitals I bought. If this isn't possible I won't buy them anymore.

Personally I also have a hard time believing this rumor. If I googled correctly the event the text is talking about was in June or July. The pacing of the TF comics haven't changed the slightest since then, as it was the case with Lost Light when they decided to cancel it.
Rather the opposite had happened, Beast Wars was in a test phase and could have ended with #12 and Burnham already had an ending for that in mind in case that IDW wouldn't consider it successful enough to turn into an ongoing. But they actually decided to continue it, and this was after the event. Burcham is already drawing issue 13+ these days. The pacing and story of the other ongoing didn't change either and IDW is constantly announcing new TF mini-series, with War's End (a flashback heavy story about the first war) being the most recent one.

One possibility is they might end up hiring IDW writers and such.

Like when Sonic left archie, the new book started with... the exact same writer. Or heck, when IDW1 started, they began with Furman!

I wouldn't be shocked if the new publisher, if there be one, hired at least some existing talent. There's a lot of good people who worked at IDW over the years.

He colored some books for them almost a decade ago. That doesn't really give him any insight into how the company is run.

No, it wasn't. The backlash usually gets deleted because calling people x-ist for disagreeing is against the rules.

Regardless, being a broken clock for half a decade plus and thing happening is not a 'prediction' in any real sense. There's been a lot of people who've, long-term, had issue with other people like them.

(A fair amount of the complaining definitely was being x-ist and not 'just disagreeing,' and plenty of people got docked by the mods for that too, so without knowing specific incidents I don't know how much was justified or not)

And there were plenty of people who just didn't like something, mentioned it, and got dog piled for it. I, personally, had some weirdo follow me around the forums for several days before the staff verbally pimp slapped them for it.

I strongly agree with this. I'd take such a move as Disney making inroads to purchase Hasbro, which would be a pure fucking nightmare.

Only seems appropriate Transformers would go to Boom Studios. (Amiright?)

And if that does happen I have two simple requests.
    1. Roberts & Milne.
    2. Build a giant trebuchet and fling Ruckley into the sun.

I agree that the license going to Marvel would suck. Though there would be the silver lining that we'd probably get actually nicely restored versions of the 80s-90s series.

But we already have countless restored versions from IDW. Let's keep it moving, and fuck Marvel.

I’m trying to think who could pick it up.

Image doesn’t do license stuff, so they’re out.

Boom, maybe. Dark Horse, maybe? Archie stopped doing license stuff, I don’t think Dynamite is a good fit though an outside chance. Titan perhaps? They do some licensed works.

There’s not a top of options. I feel like it’d be somewhere established, and also really hope it’s not Marvel.

Honestly I hope the rumor’s wrong.

Do the names Zack, EVS, or Cecil mean anything to you?

Those restorations are dogshit, and never finished the UK series. The team that does the restorations for Marvel Masterworks and Omnibus editions would do wonders with that material.

Marvel or DC? Seriously? Marvel and DC's comic sales are in the toilet. No-one is reading their terrible comics anymore. The only thing propping Marvel Comics up right now is the money made from the first 10 years of good Marvel films. Their comics are terrible. Manga is crushing their pitiful sales at every turn. Personally, I would look at shopping it to one of the Manga companies before I would ever consider marvel or DC. Or like you said, do it in-house or digitally.

Surely Has/Tak could arrange TF manga.
