Okay... Long-time member, first-time poster (Sort of a semi-n00b, if you will) Trying his luck with what he knows best - People kicking ass with HUGE swords! I hope a lot of people have been watching Bleach... Quite possible the best anime show out there at the moment (With Naruto coming in a close second) For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it is only available thru fansubs, so have a look around and look up the first ep - It's a blast form the word go! ^^ For anyone wanting a brief description of Bleach and what's going on at with the storyline, why don't you go http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=4240 Anyone wanna leave their opinions/criticisms here, would love to hear from other fans! ^^
This is one brilliant show. It's intelligent, fast paced, has great action sequences, and Byakuya. The writing is really clever, very little is forgotten later on, but picked up dramatically all as a part of the big villain's plot. I'm hoping that when it gets picked up for domestic distribution there are full uncut DVDs as well. This is a series I'd love to have on DVD, as long as the gore and the humour remains intact. Not that the series would suffer without them, but they are as much a part of Bleach as the characters and their impressive variety of attacks.
Hopefully it will end up on Adult Swim cause the stuff with the girl who has a crush on orihimei and the gore from the soul society arc wouldn't work on toonami. That Captain who wanted to become God was an unexpected twist. The filler arc seems interesting enough.
The anime is an admirably loyal adaptation of the manga, which rules. I wish it had higher production values, though. Some of the animation quality just isn't what it ought to be, especially considering that the series focuses on fights so much. (I refer you to GitS:SAC for how fights should be animated.) That's pretty much my only complaint. Other than that, it's quite enjoyable.
I read the shonen jump books. I like it. The Quincy was cool when he first showed up. I thought he would be the Vegita/Kaiba/RID Magnus character, but in the last few books, he's more comedy relief. Then again, I didn't even know there was an TV show of it. I gotta see this.
