Hence my follow up questions to your assertions:

I'm sorry, so Scott says Ford's character is roughly 10 min old? He states the exact timeframe when he's "born?"

Link please. It's either "could have" or "is", so please choose your verbs accordingly.

The question marks at the end are dead giveaways.

That's your opinion. I hear everyone has one, along with something else...

You don't understand the difference between having a differing opinion and willful denial of reality. The la-la-la-la fingers-in-ears approach to life. Have fun with that.

FYI - Blade Runner is not based on a true story.

I laid out why I feel the way I do about the character. I even used numbers to make it easier to follow.

You choose to go the route of emotional responses laced with a slight dash of personal quips. That's fine. Your choice.

The reality in this case is the storyteller flat-out telling you something about his story, and you pretending you either didn't hear it, or that your opinion :) rolleyes2) actually means anything next to his flat statement.

And yet, visually, certain things can be viewed from a different perspective and interpreted at will.

This bickering is annoying as hell. Let's either talk about another aspect of the movie, or quit arguing about it. Agree to disagree, please.

We disagree. I'm fine with that. I'm absolutely willing to move on.

He's a good fit due to his work with Nicholas Winding Refn (Drive was amazing, Only God Forgives was an admirable effort that didn't quite come together). He seems like an actor that really likes to challenge himself with intellectually stimulating material.

He was fantastic in The Place Beyond the Pines. Great choice.

I haven't read it, but there was a sequel novel authorized by PKD's estate. It's a sequel to Bladerunner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Apparently, it establishes that both a human "templant" Deckard and android "replicant" Deckard exist. The templant was the protagonist of the original novel, while the movie is a combination of the replicant's lived experiences and altered memories transplanted from the original. Kinda clever. I wonder whether the new film will be informed by this at all.

Kind of clever as far as Deckard goes, but how do they reconcile the two vastly different Los Angeleses and societies?

Blade Runner is my all time favorite sci-fi movie. But the casting of Gosling and Leto sickens me.

Gosling and Leto are both INCREDIBLE talents and any movie production should be thankful to have them.

Well like I said, I haven't actually read it (yet). But when PKD was still alive, he said that Blade Runner's portrayal of the city was exactly what he had envisioned. The real differences in the movie setting are in what's not shown... Mercerism, mood machines, empathy boxes, synthetic pets, science-fiction novel smuggling operations. But not seeing it for the duration of the film doesn't mean it doesn't exist (at least as far as the book would be concerned). Presumably it's all there, but simply wasn't shown.

I'm not buying Ridley Scott's lion's mane hairpiece.
