I’m surprised they lasted this long, but now, with this announcement, it’s the end of an era.

Edit: Actually, BlackBerry could be saved if someone else gets the rights, but I doubt it. Even a lot of the tech YouTubers are saying RIP, which is why I worded the title that way.

I’m not surprised since IOS and Android devices own the phone market. I see people are complaining because they want a phone with physical keys but that feature has died years ago. Phones are going towards the unibody all screen design. I wish Android companies besides Samsung would experiment more. At this point everything is just turning into iPhones. Especially the Pixel phones

Doesn't Blackberry have some other smaller companies in other markets producing phones?

They still had a good niche market in government since Blackberry Enterprise Server and the devices could be hardened to an acceptable level for government classified material to be transmitted from, received by and stored on them. Smartphone, or rather IOS, hardening to the same standard wasn't available until the last five or six years.

My first two internet next-gen phones were Blackberries. I had the Curve and then the Storm. Loved them both (as they had keyboards) and still have them sitting in their original boxes somewhere in my closet. Whenever I upgraded my phone, I never trade in my previous as $20 towards the next phone doesn't even make a dent in the final cost. I still have my very first Nokia phone, which is the size of a brick.
