Bendis had a really good streak of comic runs - that made him a big name. He created Jessica Jones and completely revamped Daredevil into the DD most of us think of nowadays (one of the best DD runs - up there with Miller). Ultimate Spider-Man helped launch an entire imprint of alt-universe comics and reshaped the cartoons/games/movies. Then he created the New Avengers and Dark Avengers and a few other concepts that were a cash cow. He created Miles Morales.

    Dude was on fire.

Then it just stopped. He kept getting gigs and the quality never came back

It’s a lot better in practice than in concept.

The effects team and actors had to carry a so-so plot

I haven't touched a DD comic since the early 90s, so I have no idea what he did to DD, but now I'm afraid.

He was the one that had Matt Murdock being Daredevil released to the public, and Matt's life is turned upside down because of it. Other writers would try to write around it for years till they finally pull a No Way home type situation and had everyone forget using the purple man's kids and mind control.

Yeah, I don't remember that being a particularly well liked or well received story despite what the original poster said. It's certainly not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of DD anyways. That would likely be Miller's run honestly (not that I'm a big fan of his either).

This. He legitimately has talent. But he’s definitely been in decline. Part of the problem is Marvel kept trying to use him in a way that really didn’t play to his strength. He’s a terrible event writer and yet they kept slotting him into those roles over and over. He’s a pretty solid idea man, has a better knowledge of comic history than he usually gets credit for, and is a solid serialized writer.

On topic: saw this today and on paper it shouldn’t work. The movie is overstuffed. The plot is basically 2 plots, one clearly meant to have Chadwick, and one clearly added when he died. Most of the performances are way over the top. And it has some weird elements clearly meant to set up other movies and shows.

But despite that it really works. Like really works. It was good. My kids and wife loved it. This is my new Independance Day. A movie I can openly acknowledge is deeply flawed and held together by terrible logic, but that works all the same, and may be even better for its flaws.

Interesting that they made France a antagonist. Kinda like in RL with the french being rather ruthless colonialists and being rather shady like when the sank the Greenpeace boat

Also, Namor pretty much pulled a Thanos here, where he won at the end. Crippling Wakanda and for all intents and purposes making them his junior partner in the alliance.

I commented on this before but I find it such lazy writing that the only person smart enough in the MCU to create a device to detect vibranium is some college kid. They only did this to force Riri on us and that's lazy. They could have come up with a much more creative way to do so. They could have introduced The Leader who built who stole a speck of vibranium and build this incredibly sophisticated detector that actually discovered a huge amount of it at the bottom of the ocean. Then Namor and Wakanda could have teamed up to fight them instead of each other.

That rig was also built using used spare parts. It's clear Namor was overreacting when he thought the surface world would now be able to detect his city, which appears to be miles and miles and miles under water and already well hidden. Maybe he's just being proactive. I dont know, that part too seems to be really lazy writing, forcing a war that didn't really need to happen yet.

Yikes these box office numbers are looking wild. If week 3 and 4 continue dropping at this rate, will it even make $700 mil?

Week 3 and 4 will undoubtedly be worse based on current projections.

This is what caused the problem. Morales became popular and he realized that creating a new character or version was more profitable than using the originals.

    We all were.
Fortunately the internet gives us options to make up for what Disney took from us.

Wow, because of Test Parents too. Continuing the American traditional of shielding kids from everything.

We’ll “protect” our children from literally everything except the actual things that are hurting them.
