Ryan Coogler Signs on to Write and Direct 'Black Panther' Sequel (Exclusive)

With filming expected to start in late 2019-early 2020 i guess we can expect this to come out in 2021

The sequel has been justified, so I wonder who they'll cast as the enemy. They killed off Klaw and Killmonger.

I think Achebe or Tetu could work. Both are shamans villains who are natives of Wakanda and are against TChalla's progressive reign. (Plus Achebe is batshit insane, he was partly based on the Joker)

 

Nakia is also an villain in the comics, so perhaps she could be one (though personnaly I would not like this)

 

For Wakanda's sake, I hope she doesn't.

 

Michael B. Jordan Rumored To Return As Erik Killmonger In BLACK PANTHER 2

He was too cool to stay dead. I think he'll get a cameo at best, maybe appearing in the ancestral plane.

 

I hope they don´t make M´Baku or Nakia evil.

 

Black Panther 2 Rumor Claims Michael B. Jordan Will Return

According to a report supposedly (but not verified) attributed to Marvel Scooper "Roger Wardell's" supposed Phase 4 leak report, the film will be politically charged and teases the arrival of the Queen Divine Justice, a princess secretly raised in America by one of T’Challa’s warriors.

Curious.

Achebe would be good, he was basically the Panther's Joker for awhile and had a number of good one liners.

 

Yup. And I fear the popularity of Jordan's villain got into the heads of "the powers that be" waaaaaay more than it should have. He was good, yes, but not "bring him back from the fucking dead" good.

 

That sounds exactly like Black Panther 1.

 

There was this tumblr post where it’s post IW where Shuri (Before we knew she died too) became queen and she went to the Ancestral Plane somehow. She sees Kilmonger playing basketball by himself and is confused, and he barely acknowledges her before telling her that T’Challa isn’t there.

I dunno. It felt poignant to me. I’d love an Ancestral Plane appearance since Erik was a King however briefly.

 

I'm already seeing red flags.

Nearly every standalone Marvel film that got a sequel got a really bad sequel, the exceptions being Winter Soldier and possibly GOTG2 depending on who you ask.

Black Panther wasn't even that incredible. A highly typical, formulaic Marvel movie, and it sounds like this could well end up a typical, formulaic sequel.

 

I could see Black Panther 2 being a DVD movie for me. I thought the first film was fine, but it wasn't one of my favorite Marvel movies. I mostly found it kind of boring and slow. Unless the sequel looks like it's going in a vastly different direction, it's probably not going to be one that I rush out to see in theaters. Maybe I'll be able to get into it if they explore Wakanda more.

 

They should make Doom the villain and then do his origin story in FF.

 

Yeah but Winter Soldier is the single best MCU movie and Iron Man 2 was cool, I think anyway.

 

I think this is the best we'll get for NJadaka.

But who knows, Marvel may bring in a one-off resurrection method for him. When you can bring people back from the dead, be prepared for that method to be abused, as the Dragon Balls prove. I don't know if it'd be good or bad though.
